Ok, so Canada are clearly odds on favourites. So why are the 'lay' odds on Switzerland so high?
I'm probably being really stupid here, but if I 'lay' Switzerland, does that not mean that if they lose, I win? But the odds to 'lay' Switzerland are 54/1. So if I bet £10 against Switzerland, and they lose, I win £540?
I just don't understand how laying works, I've only really used this site to back teams/horses/racers rather than lay. (and to play roulette).
So.. I am betting £540 for Switzerland to lose, which will win me £10? Am I basically asking someone to make a bet of £10, against me, whereby if Switzerland win, I have to pay the other person £540? But if they lose, they pay me £10?
