First past post at 50/1 squeezed out the 4th horse 200 yds out, looked to have made contact too and then drifted in to bump the 2nd as well winning by about a head: i purposfully held back from backing or laying but expected the places to be reversed and the winner placed 3rd or 4th or DQ'd. There was also a possibility that the 2nd had contributed to the squeezing  earlier but maybe not significantly. Yet , inexplicable for the US, stewards left the places as they were and refused the objection of the 2nd to the winner.  Amazinlgy inconsistent  - just like here!  But u could say that the better horse won - even if close-run.  Beware the US - unpredictable.

fav caused the original interference imo, so the stewards had a dilemma if they then wanted to chuck the fptp for minor bump with the fav later on, be giving the race to the well beaten 3rd horse. right decision for me in the end, but I agree it's a minefield over there.

The outside horse bumped two horses and made a much bigger deflection. In fact if the ouer horse  [eventual winner] were not there the minor deviation of the 2nd wouldn't have caused any significant interference, but i agree that under some very strict USA rules the stewards might have DC'd both 1st and 2nd!
