I always seem to be on the losing end of these - often for minor insignificant infringements, such that ive drastically reduced my bets here.

I was taken aback by the reversal. Our rules are wrong because they're far too heavily weighted on winning distance, but it's madness the other side of the pond whereby tolerance varies from one State to another and any 'any taking of ground' whatsoever may result in DQ

Agreed - i think the deciding vote should be based on merit. - who would have won? If there was foul or dangerous play then fine the jockey not the horse, owner or punter . if its really too hard to choose award a dead heat

The DQ in the 8.00 tonight was harsh, and I say that even though I profited from the winner getting thrown out (I layed it at short odds when I saw it drift out late on). The winner did impede the runner-up but it was very late on and the r-up looked held.
I've seen many, many far worse infractions on the US racing where the result has stood (including horses nearly being put over the rail), it really is a complete lottery. I think most of the time it's who the horses are owned/trained/ridden by (ie Irad Ortiz is allowed to virtually do anything at the New York tracks). |

that was a bad one, I reckon it 'may' have looked worse on the scout cam but I never saw it.

FPTP was over a length clear and there's zero doubt the best horse won. I'm guessing the Stewards must have seen the possibility of clipping heels just before the line. Either way, the decision was stupid. The Stewards this side of the pond only account for winning distance and care little for anything else, but our counterparts in America are a lot worse and far less predictable

It seems they go down the DQ route more over there as the jockey punishment rather than a ban like over here, which I can see is a way of keeping the sport safer in theory although as MC said Irad seems to get away with murder sometimes.
On the ban subject what did Machado get for dropping his hands the other week, anyone know? |

They are super safety orientated. Winning distance is irrelevant if there's any chance whiff of taking ground. Whereas our Stewards NEVER DQ a horse for dangerous riding.

Yes felt like more of a jockey ban than a DQ but it was a silly ride to come out that far with the stick in the left hand

Which hand the whip is in is largely irrelevant over here. May be more of a consideration over there, I don't know

It shows no intent to straighten the horse up, he just kept going with the left hand. If he wanted to he could've switched it through but it seems to me he wanted to get as close to the other as possible to rally his own mount

Maybe betfair should reopen a market for 60 seconds if a stewards is announced.

Anyone see the 20:55 Gulfstream 22/12?
Just a few days after a DQ, a similar but worse infarction of interference was allowed without penalty I didn't have a bet in this race, but can only deduce the Stewards out there must be bent. If those two races and outcomes happened days apart at the same track this side of the pond, well I just couldn't imagine it. Very very dubious stuff |

Why was Holy Hank disqualified at Sunland? Was it interference inside the final furlong or something at the start? If inside final furlong that the decision is a disgrace

Interference inside the last 100 yards, the 3 Holy Hank moved across in the path of the 5. For what it's worth I think he was clear enough when it happened and was a poor DQ.

USA Stewards are a disgrace IMO. Often they favor who ever is fav for the race which does not suit my betting style. Minimum stakes for me.

Has Irad ever lost an objection, reckon he should've gone in nearly all of the ones he's been involved in and never been demoted.
