I'm crossing my fingers to have Zia back to the exchange markets at least on Mondays and Tuesdays, the days with less racetracks running. Next October and November on Monday and Tuesday we are going to have just 4 racetracks the first two days of the week, Parx, Turf, Finger and Mountaineer. Zia is owned by Penn National, like Charles Town, Sam Houston and Mahoning Valley, so I believe that the problem here is the mixed racecard with quarter horse racing. However, Zia Park and Sunland were alway here all days of the week with mixed racecards until 2 or 3 years ago. As a loyal exchange customer I don't care if the quarter horse races have low liquidity. The important thing for me is to have those racetracks here, because there are great opportunities in their thoroughbred races. One alternative is to offer on exchange just the thoroughbred races for these meetings with mixed racecards.
In 2019 Zia Park were running mostly 4 days per week with 2 cards of QH and 2 of TB. Betfair covered only the TB dates.
In 2020 this changed to 3 days per week with almost all cards being mixed QH/TB. Betfair only covered one single card on 11 Nov which was the only full TB card they ran.
I've not seen any info on how Zia Park will be running this year but the fact they have stuck to 3 cards per week as per 2020 suggests they may well all be mixed cards again.
