Last night in Forth Earie 2nd race I've had a matched bet on the 4 horse at 1.62 odds. Than two horses were sratched late, the 5 and the 6 horses their reduction factors were 10.5% and 18.3% . My odds should have dropped about 30% to about 1.42. However, for my suprise,  I was seeing 1.18 as my new odds. I have tweeted Betfair customer desk, the guy did not have a clue, he tweetedthat the traiding teem  will investigate, and they let me know their answer. I did not get any answer since than! Anybody can explain, what could have happenned?

Betfair reduction factors differ from conventional bookmakers rule 4 deductions in that the reduction applies to your total returns (i.e. including your stake)

Therefore 1.62 - 10% = 1.458
and then  1.458 - 18.3% = 1.19

Sad but true.

or more accurately 1.62 -10.5% = 1.4499
                   1.4499 -18.3% = 1.1846

The sp of the horse is 1/50! You should be happy with your return.

Just before the time of the sratches the available odds  were something like 1,46 on the 4 horse. Right after the suspension and the scratchs of the 5 and 6 horses, this 1,46 dropped to 1,32 and remained to be available for some time, so I am not conviced that everithing went down fairly.
My odds of 1,62 should not have dropped 70% by cancelling two horses with duble digits odds!

the 18% withdrawal shouldn't have been double digit but odd things can happen with movements in illiquid markets. The betfair system is fair to backers and layers, in theory. 3 horse race all horses 2-1, RF 33.33% leaves you with two even money shots.
