Anyone know what happens in the event of two horses getting demoted from their positions from two separate objections in the same race?
eg in the 8th race at delaware tonight, result past the post was 6, 4, 7, 5.
The 4 objected against the 6 due to bumping in the stretch, AND the 5 objected against the 4 due to impeding coming out of the gates.
As it happened only the 4 v 6 objection was sustained and the 5 v 4 was disallowed, so final result was 4, 6, 7, 5.
BUT what would have happened if both objections were sustained?
> Would the 6 horse be placed behind the 4 and then the 4 horse behind the 5 leaving the result 6, 7, 5, 4?
> or would the 4 horse be placed behind the 5 and then the 6 horse placed behind the 4 leaving the result 7, 5, 4, 6?
> or something else?

14.19.1 Multiple Disqualifications
14.19.1.1 Should the stewards determine that there is more than one incident of interference in a race where disqualification is warranted, the stewards shall deal with the incidents in the order in which the incident occurs during the race from start to finish; except in the case where the same horses are involved in multiple incidents. Once a horse has been disqualified, it should remain placed behind the horse with which it interfered. So, if both objections sustained, 6 must be placed behind 4. And regardless of anything else that happens it should remain placed behind 4. 4 must be placed behind 5 (and 6 must follow 4 to remain placed behind 4) Giving 7 5 4 6 Thats how I see it. |
