jmc ... unfortunately it's local issues in the united states and their reticence to embrace an exchange model
maybe one day .. hopefully Betfair is still conducting discussion about contracts with many racetracks and are yet to release a full list of racetracks that are going to participate in their venture. It is, however, already known that Monmouth Park will definitely be taking part and The Stronach Group, which include Santa Anita, Gulfstream, Golden Gate Fields and Pimlico have declined to participate in Betfair’s exchange-wagering. Some major racetrack operators, including the New York Racing Association and Churchill Downs Inc., have not committed either way as yet. https://playinglegal.com/news/betfair-launches-first-exchange-wagering-site-usa-3005 |

also ... forget timeform
I use a monthly subscription from DRF for ALL meetings run in the US (approx. $20AUD per month) ... but there are other places providing very detailed form, speed & class figures ... but you GOTTA pay ... not much though compared to their value for a USA racing punter http://www1.drf.com/DailyRacingProgram/MainMenu.do or equibase for free if you have the time to go through each horse & race individually horse http://www.equibase.com/profiles/Results.cfm?type=Horse&refno=8978657®istry=T race https://www.equibase.com/static/chart/pdf/index.html?SAP=TN |

Cheers Thebas, been a while since Ive been on here, i see in your post they are in discussions with NYRA if they lose the New York tracks I wont be returning if thats the case!

yes I understand jmc .. will be disappointing if NYRA decide not to engage
as a punter though .. on the US for about 2 years .. I have found the most competitive meetings to be the toughest to turn a profit (BEL, AQU, CD etc) the lesser tracks and mid-range quality (claimers, allowance to $50k) provide the best long term value for the formguide punter imo regards odds and results .. tracks such as CT, DED, FL, HAW, PEN, TUP seem to give 2 to 3 races a night each track that are playable for me (depending on the odds of course) maidens, stakes races (yep, sadly) and age restricted races (2yo only, 3yo only) ... for me I mean ... are the hardest to make a long term profit and I usually avoid them |

Big fan of the main NY tracks, also loved Tampa when Ness had all the Midwest horses there. Mike Chambers at Turf aswell. Cali racing on here years ago was a goldmine but that was blocked and never was available anywhere else by the looks of it.

yes jmc I have TAM in as a track to play also .. and would also love to see the west coast back in
and I could also mention ... that I only play the dirt races .. and I always avoid the turf races all the best |

Purple have the big race at Pimlico tonight, so presumably not an exchange issue.

best I can find on line Sparrow
http://www.thoroughbreddailynews.com/pdf/tdn/tdn160513.pdf it's apparently the deal they signed for ... Betfair USA ... to get their foothold ... where even no one outside of new jersey can bet on Pimlico races and the software even has a geo tracking system to confirm location of the punter ffs plus the usa residents have to pay 12½% commission ... so good luck over there if the locals bother embracing the model away from the tote system betafir won't break a countries local rules as evidence by what we suffer over here in Australia where the base commission ranges between 6% AND 8% based on which state in Australia the race is being run MUDDY at pim today ... be wary ![]() |

Thank you for that, Thebas. Those commission rates are harsh to say the least.
