No evening meeting in the UK racing. All the live racing they have is US stuff. So what do they do? Why, they keep showing us assorted highlights from this afternoon, and then pop across to the live US races with just a few seconds to spare.
Do they really think people are sitting there watching Stateside, hoping for some miscellaneous UK race to pop up? Of course not. They've got the Stateside stuff, so why don't they try and build some interest in it? Why don't they spend at least three or four minutes talking about the form, trying to lure people into having a bet? Nobody's going to put money on some strange race with just a few seconds of analysis. But if they've heard a bit of the form, and a few of the angles, perhaps they'll be intrigued, and will start to develop a taste for it??
I can sort of understand why they'd concentrate almost solely on the UK stuff when there's an evening meeting or two. But to do so when there isn't even anything on just seems stupid.
I'm not sure you even need a regular presenter, as such. Darryl, Weaver and co know just enough to be able to waffle about the horses for a bit, and that would build anticipation. A genuine top-class pundit (like our own Mr Q) would be preferable, but I'm not suggesting a major overhaul here.
All they need to do is cut down on the mishmash of highlights, and make sure they're at each US track with about four minutes to spare. Otherwise, I don't know why they bother at all.

Agreed. It would help if they showed current odds rather than the misleading ones that are on most of the time on recordings. I don't really use ATR till after 10.00PM.

they won't cover themselves in glory tonight either, if past experience is anything to go by. The big US night of the year and the A team of presenters is in the studio, right now, early doors and they will all knock off in about an hour and just hand it over to the host broadcaster for the main races, instead of covering it and commenting on the main events properly. they should do their own program through the whole card imo but what they do is just the cheap / lazy option.i can't think of any other sport where sky would do this if they didn't have to
