I thought it was a 2 horse race, saved on the 1 to win and never fancied the 5 to place but there you go. I really thought 5's for the 4 to place was crazy but it was squeezed early and cost it later on.

Too lazy to create a new thread and hardly anything on this one so why not utilise it...!
Good evening all, best of luck if anyone else is playing MP whilst awaiting the Melbourne Cup

1) 5yo who has shown little in its 11 attempts 2) time on this ones side but shown nothing to say it will be involved tonight 3) consistent in this class, should run well again 4) unraced 4yo, kept in training and decent connections so must assume it has shown them something 5) poor so far in slightly better and has Vigil on board so cannot be discounted 6) had plenty of goes in this class without breaking through, likely to place at best 7) been in with better and should be up to taking this 8) appears very limited, can't see it anywhere but the back 9) another who has struggled to show any improvement 10) run in better but shown nothing and questionable if drop to 6f will assist
Summary would go 7-4-6-3, at prices the 7 has tempted me with a saver on 4, gl if you play

Very difficult to look past the 3 who looks to have every chance of going gate to wire, so can't be bothered doing the full thoughts on the field...!
Would go 3-7-4-9, no bet unless someone generous goes to Evens...!

I'm having peanuts on the longshot, the 8, to place. Excellent recent work (albeit over only 3f), and the trainer got some decent races from him when he had him before. If he can get back to those times, he can mix it with most of these donkeys, and double-figure digits for the place seem silly.

Erm... He's not a loser if he doesn't place the bet...
Unlike you Pip, who only ever puts up heavy odds-on shots, and gets plenty of them beaten!
(How come everybody else leaves the forum except Pip? Is this the Cockroaches analogy being played out for real?)

The Meadowlands form of the 5 hard to evaluate as it isn't a track I know anything about, the Thistledown form tends to hold up well at MP so have place backed the 7, gl all

Only reason why I put a few pennies on it - far too big a difference in odds especially with a pick from the tipsters. Though never expected it to win.

WD Cork. The winner was only a 1 3/4 lengths behind the fav at Monmouth in July over 6 fur after showing good early pace. The shorter distance tonite was in it's favour plus the goat Lagunes was riding the fav.

I had a good bet on St Pats yesterday to beat my old team the Candystripes. I've recovered my losses over the weekend after laying New Orleans Saints on Thursday night in the NFL who won very easily

both the 1 and 8 have sound claims and both are being ridden by guys high on confidence, should be a good battle of tactics as to which one commits their mount first, at cramped odds no play for me, gl if you play

We've certainly had some strange decisions on big race weekends over the last few weeks. Luckily for the 1, this isn't a big race weekend. (And he's the fave!)

Just to add something a bit different. I quite regularly lat horses in Australia, basically because i get bored early in my mornings. I know, stupid undisciplined git!! Anyway i have found that when the real money is down 'down under', it is rarely left behind. 9 times out of 10, i get it right by laying a horse going in the opposite direction in the market. If there is one around 4 or 5/1 i lay. Just had one this morning. The thing is i have an aversion to backing for some silly reason, which is why i don't follow the horse with the money.

If it works for you, then never listen to doubting thomas's JonHig, profit is all that is important on here and it needs different people doing different things to make everything work, have posted many times there is no right or wrong way to play, just your own way that works for you.

I wouldn't have the slightest idea Cork!. I know nothing about Australian races, and rely entirely on following the money in certain circumstances. How many times have we seen 'THEY knew' written on this Forum? There are worse ways of doing things LOL!

Last go and I'm siding with the somewhat enigmatic all or nothing 4 horse w/p, the 7 seems very short but with Vigil up not prepared to lay, gl all
