Yep just Zia till midnight     Sad
A year ago they would have had Parx and Finger Lakes.

Well done  spiller I had the 4 to place and thought I had it home
Report spiller1 September 29, 2014 9:13 PM BST
Cheers TT

I went a bit mad on it.....thought I had done my money.
Report treetop September 29, 2014 9:18 PM BST
I thought it was a 2 horse race, saved on the 1 to win and never fancied the 5 to place but there you go. I really thought 5's for the 4 to place was crazy but it was squeezed early and cost it later on.

Too lazy to create a new thread and hardly anything on this one so why not utilise it...!

Good evening all, best of luck if anyone else is playing MP whilst awaiting the Melbourne Cup
Report Cork Langer November 3, 2014 11:55 PM GMT
Thoughts on Race 1 runners, a poor looking maiden

1) 5yo who has shown little in its 11 attempts
2) time on this ones side but shown nothing to say it will be involved tonight
3) consistent in this class, should run well again
4) unraced 4yo, kept in training and decent connections so must assume it has shown them something
5) poor so far in slightly better and has Vigil on board so cannot be discounted
6) had plenty of goes in this class without breaking through, likely to place at best
7) been in with better and should be up to taking this
8) appears very limited, can't see it anywhere but the back
9) another who has struggled to show any improvement
10) run in better but shown nothing and questionable if drop to 6f will assist

Summary would go 7-4-6-3, at prices the 7 has tempted me with a saver on 4, gl if you play
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 12:04 AM GMT
Race delayed, hopefully 4 will be scratched as looks fairly wound up by the experience
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 12:06 AM GMT
Shame 4 runs with new rider to be advised
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 12:14 AM GMT
And now it is a scratch, no jockey wanted the ride...!
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 12:15 AM GMT
Mountaineer Park currently reading on DRF as 1425 minutes until the next race!!  That's some delay...
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 12:24 AM GMT
Result 7-3-6-1, a good start...!
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 12:24 AM GMT
Wd Corky!
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 12:25 AM GMT
cheers HJ, was a long old wait...!
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 12:26 AM GMT
Not 1425 minutes though!!
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 12:30 AM GMT
True, computer malfunction no doubt, that is usually used to cover all eventualities...!
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 12:35 AM GMT
Race 2

Very difficult to look past the 3 who looks to have every chance of going gate to wire, so can't be bothered doing the full thoughts on the field...!

Would go 3-7-4-9, no bet unless someone generous goes to Evens...!
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 12:38 AM GMT
Agree on the 3. Very strong, but no bet.

I'm having peanuts on the longshot, the 8, to place. Excellent recent work (albeit over only 3f), and the trainer got some decent races from him when he had him before. If he can get back to those times, he can mix it with most of these donkeys, and double-figure digits for the place seem silly.
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 12:45 AM GMT
Result 9-1-3-6 something of a shocker
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 12:46 AM GMT
The 8 ran like a longshot...

Bit of a honky old race though. Probably some good exotics in there...

WELL DONE LOOOOOSER
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 12:49 AM GMT
Erm... He's not a loser if he doesn't place the bet...

Unlike you Pip, who only ever puts up heavy odds-on shots, and gets plenty of them beaten!

(How come everybody else leaves the forum except Pip?  Is this the Cockroaches analogy being played out for real?)
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 12:56 AM GMT
Wouldn't bother wasting your breath HJ, the guy has an enormous chip on his shoulder and obviously has a problem reading English
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 12:58 AM GMT
Oh, I like giving Pip a good kick every now and again, Cork.  I've been doing that for years and years now...

Race 3

The Meadowlands form of the 5 hard to evaluate as it isn't a track I know anything about, the Thistledown form tends to hold up well at MP so have place backed the 7, gl all
Report Darlo Bantam November 4, 2014 1:09 AM GMT
Dumb - or is that dumber - with a 17-1 winner. Nice.

9/2 on tote 17/1 here, wonder where Mark backed it...!
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 1:12 AM GMT
Odds of only 17.0???  And only his second win out of two races. too

Yup. That Cork's a loser alright..

(Well done Corky!!)
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:13 AM GMT
cheers HJ, this feeling of being a loser is going to drive me to drink...!
Report Darlo Bantam November 4, 2014 1:13 AM GMT
Only reason why I put a few pennies on it - far too big a difference in odds especially with a pick from the tipsters. Though never expected it to win.
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 1:14 AM GMT
Laugh
Report Kriskin November 4, 2014 1:15 AM GMT
WD Cork.  The winner was only a 1 3/4 lengths behind the fav at Monmouth in July over 6 fur after showing good early pace.  The shorter distance tonite was in it's favour plus the goat Lagunes was riding the fav.
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:15 AM GMT
Do get some strange differences but it usually tends to be more so on the bsp for the later races, wd DB anyway
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:16 AM GMT
cheers
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:17 AM GMT
cheers Kriskin, this drink is giving me fat finger syndrome...! Any luck lately...?
Report Darlo Bantam November 4, 2014 1:17 AM GMT
Ty. Though I can't take any credit - for once it was all Mark's credit.
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:18 AM GMT
Not true DB you still had to make the choice of whether to press the back button
Report Kriskin November 4, 2014 1:21 AM GMT
I had a good bet on St Pats yesterday to beat my old team the Candystripes.  I've recovered my losses over the weekend after laying New Orleans Saints on Thursday night in the NFL who won very easily
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:23 AM GMT
No place for the heart when money is at stake...!
Report Kriskin November 4, 2014 1:25 AM GMT

100% correct.  They were much the better team.  Derry need at least 5 new players to be in the Top 3 next season
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:27 AM GMT
Race 4

both the 1 and 8 have sound claims and both are being ridden by guys high on confidence, should be a good battle of tactics as to which one commits their mount first, at cramped odds no play for me, gl if you play
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 1:31 AM GMT
I don't know why that 1 doesn't give the 2 a good few bashes as he goes by....
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:32 AM GMT
Result 1-2-8 good run from the 2 horse
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 1:33 AM GMT

Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:34 AM GMT

Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 1:34 AM GMT
I think the 2 was already beaten today, and that may save the 1 but...
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:35 AM GMT
2 to blame and it happened in a part of the race where it did not affect the result...!
Report HonkyJoe November 4, 2014 1:35 AM GMT
We've certainly had some strange decisions on big race weekends over the last few weeks.   Luckily for the 1, this isn't a big race weekend. (And he's the fave!)
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:52 AM GMT
Race 5

The 2 and the 9 appear to be the pace in the race, small play on the 3 for me, gl if you play
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 1:56 AM GMT
Result 8-9-1-2, wow a real shocker...!
Report JonHig. November 4, 2014 1:57 AM GMT
Just to add something a bit different. I quite regularly lat horses in Australia, basically because i get bored early in my mornings. I know, stupid undisciplined git!!  Anyway i have found that when the real money is down 'down under', it is rarely left behind. 9 times out of 10, i get it right by laying a horse going in the opposite direction in the market. If there is one around 4 or 5/1 i lay. Just had one this morning. The thing is i have an aversion to backing for some silly reason, which is why i don't follow the horse with the money. Happy
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 2:02 AM GMT
If it works for you, then never listen to doubting thomas's JonHig, profit is all that is important on here and it needs different people doing different things to make everything work, have posted many times there is no right or wrong way to play, just your own way that works for you.
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 2:04 AM GMT
Any fancy for the Melbourne Cup...? (back or lay)
Report JonHig. November 4, 2014 2:17 AM GMT
I wouldn't have the slightest idea Cork!. I know nothing about Australian races, and rely entirely on following the money in certain circumstances. How many times have we seen 'THEY knew' written on this Forum? There are worse ways of doing things LOL!
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 2:19 AM GMT
Result 2-3-8-6 glad I missed that race...!
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 2:21 AM GMT
Me neither JonHig, appears to be a lot of UK/IRE entries, best left alone...!
Report JonHig. November 4, 2014 2:25 AM GMT
And you have hit the nail on the head Cork! The races i dabble in, have virtually 100% local money going on them. Not so with the big events.
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 2:29 AM GMT
Race 7

Expect the tactically astute Parker to sit off the pace set by 1/2/4 and then glide past them in the straight, backed 8, gl all
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 2:40 AM GMT
Result 4-6-8 very poor run from the 8, another great night for Pilares though with 4 victories
Report JonHig. November 4, 2014 2:41 AM GMT
I thought coming round the bend, it was going to go exactly as you said Cork!
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 2:54 AM GMT
Race 8

Last go and I'm siding with the somewhat enigmatic all or nothing 4 horse w/p, the 7 seems very short but with Vigil up not prepared to lay, gl all
Report Cork Langer November 4, 2014 3:01 AM GMT
Result 10-7-9-6 very much a nothing run, gn & gl all
