Do you think there's enough liquidity at BF for multiple venues? If there are four or more racetracks going, I find most of the races to be virtually unplayable (except at very low stakes) due to the almost non-existent liquidity in them. Have just two going at a time, though, and tens of thousands accumulate in many of the pools.
I'd quite to swap bullruns like Zia for half-decent tracks like Parx. Overall though, healthier amounts of money in the pools are more important to medium-sized players than having lots of races to pick from. If the money isn't there, you can't bet. |

That might be fair comment if you play on every race.
I like to be selective. If I stay in at night I play the US racing and have done for years. I managed one bet between 7.00PM and 9.10PM last night. It will be worse in a couple of weeks on Monday as Suffolk is closing after next week's meeting and I am not going to bet on quarterhorse racing. Looks like I will have to start watching Coronation St. |

Fair enough, but it's hard to be too selective when many of the races don't have enough in them to allow for any sort of a decent bet - what's the point of finding a race you like if there's no money in the pool?
Last week you'd sometimes have five tracks going. Penn would have good liquidity, with tens of thousands available. But many of the others would be utter rubbish, with only a thousand or two available in the Win pools - and, frequently, only a hundred or two in the Place markets. Ideally, of course, there'd be both a good choice of tracks and excellent liquidity overall. In truth, we can no longer have both of these things. Sadly, it's looking increasingly as though BF is something of a dead duck in US terms, and the tax-starved option-poor Tote could soon be our only real option. |

matching bets after 10pm due to no uk racing and just 2 meets can be high as 50k in matched bets which is not bad but on fri or sat with 6 or 7 meets forget it as it can be as low as 3k in some market due to too many meets

This was the reply to my e-mail.
Thanks for your email. I have been advised of the following form our Market Operations department Our US offering is based on historical trading performance of each track and on some occasions is restricted for contractual reasons. We offer a competitive US product that offers our customers the opportunity to bet in liquid markets (close to the race). We are restricted from offering the two meetings mentioned in your email. for commercial reasons. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with. Or maybe our FAQs will come in handy? We love to tweet too; find us @BetfairHelpdesk. Thanks, Ian Thorne. Absolute joke,so they havent been able to enter into a contract with many of the tracks that have been on here for the last 10 years or so,and as I have said already something is going on between the bookmakers and the exchanges as the high street bookmakers are covering some of these meetings,I will not be bothering anymore with these US markets especially the absolute dross thats on from 10.25 until 3.00am. Just look at tonights rubbish,Zia Park ,the grade there must be the equivalent of class 8 over here in the UK (if ever we got that poor that we would let horses run that werent much faster than snails),and where pray will the liquidity come from for this meeting, thats if there are any punters that are desperate to have a bet. |
