wesdag, its also had a knock on effect for us UK based users as the liquidity has gone.
Had to put on a bet in shop and take the SP last week as the liquidity on here was non existent.

U.S players still have the tote option. When you weigh everything out, totes are superior to betting on here. And if you can't make money on totes, you are in the wrong business anyways.

single digit horse are very poor US better tote most times and outsiders are a joke on here.If the tote price is 34/1 lucky to get peanuts on here at 25/1. Complete joke and dont forget up to 60% winners tax tskes that 25/1 you took on here down to 9/1

Jesus, you poms love a good whinge, don't you.
You comment is complete nonsense. The U.S. tote is subject to crippling take-out percentages that make it nearly impossible to show a profit unless you've got half the jockeys in your pocket.
Betfair prices are way superior to the tote on most runners. I've seen horses starting at 3 to 5 on the tote which have been offered at better than evens on here at some stage of the betting. It happens all the time. If you've done the form and know that the horse should be odds-on there's no excuse not to take the price while its there. Sure they'll shorten up before the jump but that's only to be expected.
It's the fluctuations that create the value. Get on at the right price and you're laughing. It's just one price for all on the tote, like it or lump it. That's why exchange betting sh1ts all over the giddy goat ... every bloody time.
As for that comment about the effect of the 60% PC on your price, that is only the case if you make only one bet per week, or if every bet you make in a given week is a winner. If you make several bets in a week, some of which are winners and some of which are losers, the 60% tax on your over-all winnings for the week does not equate to a 60% reduction in price of every bet you make. It's still a significant reduction I will admit, but nowhere near as bad as you're making it out to be. And for those on 20% PC the effect is even less.

Your guys ignorance is laughable, Pittsburgh phil thats a hot one. The real Phil was a man who made it on totes , not churning out pennies on here. Most US totes are around 15 to 18 % on wins. 18 to 22 % on exotics. The odd track will take out up to 25% on tri's supers.

You're calling me ignorant. Now that is an absolute howler. The real Pittsburgh Phil operated in the days when bookmakers were legal on U.S. tracks. And he won all his money from bookmakers. Pittsburgh Phil was a huge punter. If he had bet on totes his stake would have smashed his own prices. He would have been getting his own money back, minus the take-out. His only hope would have been to get a rebate deal like Mr Z.
Do some bloody research before you come on here making outlandish statements.

The quote about not being able to back outsiders on here is laughable. I lay long in the US and up until a year or so ago I was making quite a nice profit laying at roughly twice the tote odds quoted at the time on average. Now I am treading water because I am finding it hard to get on offering 3x the tote odds. Some layers seem to go crazy. I am seriously thinking of switching to backing.

I have always layed quite a few but not as many as if I try laying in handicaps in GB. It's a question of percentages. In the US until a year ago with a certain amount of care and attention I found the percentages were in my favour. Now it's by no means so clear.
