i think the #9 will beat the #1. Locals thoughts; FIRST RACE: 9 BACKSTAIRS GOSSIP, a good second vs. this caliber of competition on January 17th, drops to the $12,500 level again after chasing the pace and finishing fourth vs. $22,500 maidens at the distance. Trainer David Fawkes has jockey Jose Cruz in the saddle. 1 DREAMINGOFAUNTLIZ is stretching to three-quarters of a mile after breaking slowly, making a 5-wide bid, and flattening out to finish fifth in her 5 ½-furlong debut. Note that the barn is 4 of 8 (50%) with maidens making their second start. -------------------------------------- FIRST RACE #1 DREAMINGOFAUNTLIZ broke slow, was shuffled back on the far turn, made a little mid-race run once angling outside down the backstretch before tiring from the effort in promising bow. Worked well with Rocco up last weekend. Just a question of whether she’ll trip out breaking from tough spot on the rail. #9 BACKSTAIRS GOSSIP back where she belongs after chasing fast pace, finishing fourth of 12 for twice the price stretching to six furlongs for the first time on 2/13. Ran well from outside post two back, draws outside again, may stand some catching. |
