Folks, not sure if this has been flagged, apologies if it's already out there;
Although we have an antepost market for the Derby, Betfair have told me there won't be a day of the race market as the won't be able to cover it (contractual)
I don't remember that being the case previously, I know we've not had other nights through the season for certain tracks but I can't recall not having the race market on the the big days, usually the entire card for graded racing.
I would hope they could find a way around it but the point for posting is that if you have liabilities be aware you may not have a betfair market after the final decs to trade on

Very strange this. How can Churchill Downs stop them offering markets in the UK ? Does this mean we can refuse to go to war when the Americans say jump.

unsure ss, i all that i can get is the standard tvg/contractual stuff
if we know about it then fair enough, i'm not having a go at betfair for the sake of it, but there will be a whole raft of people on fri/sat looking for the big race cards asking questions and anyone who intended to trade out of their antepost positions when the dor markets emerged is going to have to go elsewhere

Probably because of the a holes who own Santa Anita and Churchill. Wont even provide replays to Race Replay.

Another strange thing. As is pointed out in a thread below Hollywood Park is now called Betfair Hollywood Park. There is racing there today but no markets. Presumably Betfair either own the place,I can`t find out but it was sold to someone else by Churchill Downs in 2005 and may well have changed hands again,or they are sponsoring it. And yet no markets in the UK,something which may conceivably be against Californian law,but surely can't be against federal law. I don't think the State of California is yet in a position to extradite British citizens for breaking their little local rules.

We regret to notify you that as of now we will no longer be offering exchange markets on racing from the all Churchill Downs-controlled US tracks due to contractual limitations placed on our US affiliate, TVG, by Churchill Downs.
The impacted US tracks are: Arlington Park, Calder Race Course, Churchill Downs, Fair Grounds, Hoosier Park, Oaklawn Park and The Meadows. The 2012 KY Derby Ante Post market will be carried to its fruition, but no day of race market will be offered.

Betfair signs five-year Hollywood Park deal

USA: Betfair has increased its burgeoning American presence with a five-year naming rights deal for Hollywood Park, which will be known as Betfair Hollywood Park.
Betfair, which owns the TVG televised racing and betting network in the States, has pledged to make "significant infrastructure investments and improvements" to the track, which hosted the first Breeders' Cup in 1984 but has been in decline for several years.
Betfair US chief executive Stephen Burn said: "We are deeply committed to changing US horseracing for the better and are delighted to find a partner in Hollywood Park Racing Association willing to take the bold step of trying to change every facet of the racing experience to appeal to a broader, younger audience."
The deal is contingent on the California Horse Racing Board approving 2013 dates for Hollywood Park, threatened by closure in recent years.
The sponsorship comes at a time as the CHRB isconsidering regulations to legalise the introduction of betting exchanges for California residents.

i hadn't seen it originally, nor had i noticed the rules change on the ap market when they altered it mid april
not 100% sure but don't think it was listed on main horse racing

betfair will do anything to get legistration changed & get their grubby mits on u.s dollars & ruin american horse racing like it has over here.

in the meantime i've been emailing purple again, hoping they will cover oaks and derby markets, hard to know if they will do both, think left hand right hand stuff going on but it's not ruled out
They're not really doing very well though are they ? Not only have they apparently got nowhere at a federal level in terms of being able to " get at " US citizens but they don`'t seem to be able to offer markets to us on at least 50% of the bigger tracks. It`s not just the ones owned by Churchill Downs,where one assumes there is some contractual dispute and/or animosity with TVG. I don't think in the last 2 years or so I have ever seen markets offered on a California track. That includes Santa Anita where the Breeders Cup will be held this year and Betfair ( lol ) Hollywood Park. You can add Gulfstream,the most important track in Florida. They have been offering markets on Pimlico this year,but no pictures and as it's not on ATR either I`m not betting on something I can't see,given it can take them 20 mins to settle US markets.

no, they cover the triple crown/breeders only as a rule, normally angus & james with a.n.o., think it's dave gudfriend(spelling?) this time, they just focus on the one meeting on the big night, nothing else, have been free to air at times, not sure this week

Racing UK will be incorporating the award-winning NBC coverage, with Angus McNae, Dave Gutfreund and James Willoughby on-hand to guide viewers through proceedings from the studio.
The American coverage, which starts at 9pm and runs though until midnight, also takes in the Grade 1 Woodford Reserve Turf Classic (9.46pm).

I can very occasionally get RUK for free for a few days at a time. Usually forget tbh. Don't think I can this weekend.
Also I think the Betfair legal team have gotten the wrong end of the stick, they certainly cannot show the race on live feed but I cannot see any laws stopping them to bet, even if they called it the triple crown round 1. As I said The purple site are betting on it

Sorry I didn't read the whole post, I seldom use the forums these days, fa too much drivel (Current post excepted) Ahhhh this time last year I was at Churchill Downs. I think I must have passed out after my 18th Mint Julip LOL

daq put the races up from about race 4/5 last night, problem was that after the storm they were closing the races on the off time but they were going off as much as 45 mins behind so nothing was being bet and they wouldn't reopen
i got a message late last night to say they were only going to cover the derby tonight, i hope they reconsider and at least do the televised races

Ok, now we have the logistics over with, who does anyone fancy? I think BODEMEISTER looked hugely impressive at Oaklawn in the Arkansas Derby and has a huge chance. Any views?
willing to pay to watch KyDerby tonight. Anyone know if it's available anywhere online?
You can watch the Kentucky Derby online on HRTV.com. The channel is great and the subscription is cheap, but the stream quality is terrible.
You can also watch it on BetAmerica.com - its' listed as Kentucky Derby - not Churchill Downs
