Was thinking of going this year, organised trips seem very expensive though at 2k a pop for 5 nights, any advice on here from guys who have been there before??
Was over for the breeders cup in santa anita in 2009 and couldnt recommend it enough.Excellent racecourse, easy to move around and made better by the weather in la that time of year.Very cheap to get into by our standards-10 dollars for grandstand and 25 dollars for clubhouse admission.Think we just paid on the day.If i remember right i think it was even cheaper on the Friday. This got us access to everywhere on the racecourse. We didnt buy seats and the whole grandstand is reserved for seating, but this was no drawback as viewing was great on the steps in front of the grandstand.you had access to the infield aswell and we watched one race in here. Loads of places to stay.We stayed in pasadena and just got a taxi there each day.20 dollars or so.With it being so close to LA you could really stay anywhere and even an event like the breeders cup wont really impact hotel prices.
One thing I would advise to check out with the racecourse is what viewing is avaiable with grandstand or clubhouse admission. This was our first time racing in the US so we decided to go back to churchill in 2010.After our experience in santa anita we didnt feel the need to buy seats but when we arrived you didnt even have access to see the racetrack without a seat ticket! As you can imagine the only seats available on the day werent great and spoiled our enjoyment of it. If there is the same policy in santa anita as was there in 2009 there is definitely no need to buy a seat but if they have limited viewing access to those without seat tickets it would be the first thing I would look into.

Will probably go too...been to Churchill last twice, and your right Zagreb, standard admission just get's you in at Churchill Downs you can't even go round the front of the grandstand! Crazy, SA sounds better though
