I know next to nothing about US racing, but want to learn. Where do I start? Could anyone recommend good websites/books etc that will help me in my quest? Which are the best tracks? How do I keep up with the form? Etc. I like high quality racing. For instance, in the UK I only bet on class 2 races & above. I'll probably do something similar with US racing too.

Sorry if this seems like a numpty question - but you know what learning is like. There's always an academic article that summarises the main arguments, so you don't have to read 3-4 books! Thanks.

10 tips get the cards and form off brisnet.co.uk its free  2 best tracks are new york aquaduct is on now till april but the real good stuff will start in april at belmont park this runs to july then you have saratoga the best race meet of the year in the states then its back to belmont in early september till the end of october all are on atr check out the nyra website for more info on the racing there  other tracks with good quality on atr are keenland they have 2 meets may and september and a track i like woodbine they race april to december non stop 3 concentrate on maybe 2 tracks at a time its too difficult otherwise 4 check the trainer and jockey stats at each track some off these guys clean up for instance luis contreas and patrick husbands are riders who dominate at woodbine in keenland top rider is julian leparoux 5 with most races having between 6 and 10 runners and being claimers that means u can rule out most of the field in alot of races its between 2 horses the trick here is to understand pace and how the race will pan out because of it this is the most important thing in us racing so look and some races and on the form and speed stats u have see the way the races are run you will find the form stacks up over there more so than in the uk or ire  6 remember the money goes down late in the us usally as the horses are entering the stalls so watch the market carefully 7 stay clear of first time starters and horses with turf form going back to dirt 8 compare the odds in the us pool to betfair if a horse is evens in the pool and is available at 2s on betfair u have to ask why usually that is because some horses are overbet in the us pool especially the pletcher/valasquez combination yeah there the main men in new york but they cant win them all 9 watch out for horses taking a class drop this is usally a good pointer 10 good luck

Best Lesson I Can Give;

DO NOT always believe that the odds being offered in the Betfair market have any correlation to the actual odds of any of these horses winning - particularly when considering favourites.
