Rode what was probably his last ride ever at Hawthorne last night. has been battling with the scales for a long time and it seems he will not be able to make the weight in the future. hardly surprising given that his 5ft 11in. Certainly got a few home for me in the past with the strength he has. Dont think he has ruled out a return if he gets his weight under control but I'd very much doubt we see him again.

Hard to feel too sorry for him as he knew it was always going to come and even in his short career (think he's about 22) he's made plenty and apparently invested it wisely into some sort of farming business.

The lad was really too tall for American style racing and his weight issues had been getting worse as he got older. It's not pleasant spending two hours every day inverted on a plank or have your face buried in a heaving bowl vomiting your guts out, nor do you get too many good rides when you have to be listed as a 5lb overweight for most low level conditions. The chances of making a return are not in his favour. At least he didn't squander his earning in his limited career, returning to his roots as a horse/livestock farmer in South Dakota.
