I know its a huge pity , but when they want 50 % of people's winnings it's hardly a surprise. Appears that liquidty is down all over the site , I think BF have made a massive mistake with this latest PC hike . If I was a shareholder I woudld be very concerned.

Problem is that a few of the big names have shuffled on, and it seems most of the posters were here only because they wanted to ride the coat-tails of the bigger punters. So no big names equals no small names either. Hence Forum RIP.
Good news is there seems to be plenty of value around. You just have to be small enough to be able to enjoy it!

Reprint.. (That last post got strangely truncated!)

Only breaking even on a portion of the Betfair players may seem a cause for complaint, but if that portion of the Betfair players are extremely vocal and acting as encouragement for the no-hopers and newbies, then they bring in considerable profits in other ways.
Betfair will end up bagging far fewer small fish if there's a reduced number of larger fish doing the bragging.

theyve obviously put alot of thought into this decision. im surprised they arent getting slated in the press. they shouldnt be able to do what their doing by law. its like a tax, which ironic seeing as they moved to avoid tax themselves

Jas, if I was a shareholder I would have sold my shares the second they made this stupid decision - actually, I might well have started short-selling them!
But then I am somebody who bets and I'd like to feel I at least understand what'll draw people in to a betting exchange. The people who control Betfair are now just a bunch of suits who have very little understanding of what drives us guys. And when you get into that kind of a situation, you get company directors who make stupid and, ultimately, fatal decisions. Sadly, we're going to suffer just as much as the shareholders.

Jas, the figures at the other place generally look good until the last minute
But with a few seconds to go, the big money goes down at Betfair. It doesn't at the Duck.
Most of the markets are funded largely by really huge players. And they're staying here.

I think the people Betfair are punishing are the ones like you - the individuals who've learnt how to tell value. The new charges are carefully tailored so that they hit the likes of you, but miss out the huge outfits, the ones with the armies of bots and contacts up and down the country. Those guys are the ones who pump in the majority of the liquidity, and they're being left alone.
As long as BF leave the really big players to destroy the newbies and no-hopers, they may hang around. I think that's BF's thinking...
I'm sure that was what Mr Q was getting at the other night..

paying 50 % weekly is ok if you run a bot and win every single week . However when you have weeks where you lose like I do , the 50 % take me out the ball game.

They've gone Gowly. And I suspect most of them won't be back. It is very strange how everybody just melts away though. I get the feeling even a string of Spiller Booms wouldn't be enough to get more then a dribble going.
