If you want a timetable of my movements when im not here i can provide this for you. Not that it matters and I don’t use it as an excuse for any of my faults but my family are from Sligo so i guess that makes me an Irishman even though Im English because I live here and was born here and Im very proud to be English even though I didn’t call myself theenglishman. Must have really hurt you the day when i pointed out to you that it wasnt possible to watch Canadian/American satellite channels in Europe. Your bullsh1t is normally well thought out but you forgot that the earth was round that day and yet you just simply packed your receiver in your suitcase for your week in the sun and sat there watching a north american racing channel in Cyprus. I'll just wiki this again for you so you dont get confused.
No, you cannot watch US satellite channels when you are in Europe. Nor can you watch European satellites in the US. Your antenna (the satellite dish) cannot receive signals from satellites under the horizon, and since the earth is round, US satellites are under Europe's horizon. Europe and the Middle East, however, is basically one area, and a dish in Sweden can pick up the same signals as those in Tunisia, and vice versa. Me and jas even emailed the satellite channel(cant remember the name you said) and they confirmed it not possible as the footprint is pointed at North America(and they only point it at Cyprus when you have your week in Protaras). Keep scratching your head and thinking about that horizon problem as I think it has baffled your tiny little mind. Who would have thunk that? |

Interesting thread. I lived in Cyprus and we were able to receive US Tv. My uncle worked for the cyprus telecommunications authority and dishes had been installed on Mount Athos to ensure that world wide sygnals could be received.

Your uncle must have been a very clever man to convince them to put dishes on a mountain to pick up a signal that is aimed at Europe when a dish on your roof or in your garden would have sufficed. You can watch Fox Sports, HBO, NBC, ESPN etc on most tv companies in Europe. I can even watch a direct feed from Woodbine if i wanted to watch that rubbish or a certain horse racing channel from America every Saturday and Sunday evening in sunny Birmingham.
However the channel thecomedian claimed to have watched only broadcasts on 91 degrees west and since that is below the horizon in Europe it is not possible to view. Even if the satellite can be seen from Europe(it cant because theres a little ball in the way called earth) the signal is only aimed at North America so still not possible to view. Geography not my stronest subject but I think the UK is nearer to north america than Cyprus so phone or email any satellite company in UK and request a dish pointing at 91 degrees west. I'd be guessing it will be pointing at the ground.
