if you bet thru the tote, it's a winner (if you meant race 8)....on betfair they race as seperate betting interests
|
|
By:
if they showing both at 4/5 as separate betting interests they would be betting about 180% on the race
as winston says winner on tote, dont know about shops |
|
By:
Thanks Winson and Bluenose, it was in the shop and as there are no Industry Prices everything is defaulted to the tote prices, by extension of that you would think that the tote rules apply, now searching for some US tote rules so that I can dispute it.
Cheers again |

never been in a shop, but from what I understand, all shop bets go directly into the tote (the bookie get a % of each dollar/pound bet). That is why they don't restrict bets on US racing. It's definitely a winner, IMO
as bluenose pointed out, that book w/ 2 horses priced at 4/5 = 180% I pulled up the final odds: 7/10 4/1 4.4/1 8.2/1 6.2/1 |

did they quote a price on the betting slip?
|
|
By:
i havent been a bookies for years but i'd imagine they would have to manully settle a race where a coupled entry wins
|
|
By:
Hi Winston, no price on the betting slip as its on the screens "guide for information purposes only"
so I am confident that I am placed on the Tote, i put it on when both were showing 2/1 , even with my poor math i can see that if they were both 4/5 they are really taking liberties :-). Must be quite lucrative business for Corals if they chuck out half the winners. The Timeform result doesnt really make it obvious that they are coupled, I dont suppose that you have a link to a site that makes it clear. Cheers |

Just found it on equibase - clear as day on there. Hopefully Coral Customer Services will capitulate quickly tomorrow

If they claim otherwise, I know a way to rob them blind.....it would only take a few hundred dollars to severely manipulate a price at Beulah or Fairmount Park. |

Excellent, robbing them blind sounds tempting but I think they have that covered, the guy at the counter said that they have to actually enter all bets over £2 direct into the US Tote rather than just let them ride, I guess they didnt have the option to do that with mine as it was the third leg of a treble (all short prices so not really a champagne moment) - suppose that opens a window of opportunity by combining with non runners in later races

Winston and Bluenose, thanks for your help after a phone call to customer services and a referal to the trading room I got paid out. Think there may be spies on this thread though as they said they are no longer allowed to take multiples on the US racing and everything gets entered in the tote.
Probably money to be made through dipping in the bins for discarded winners for people who are that way inclined. Cheers |
