I'm in Pulg, I was initially put off my its relative weakness in the amrket on here, but it looks like the markets being heavily manipulted so 2.30 could be a bit of a bargain (queue it jumping off 7/5)

no apology needed mate, those 4f races at CT are a bit of a lottery, it needed to get across and get the lead from 6 and it couldnt, was game over then.

besides, I've made pplenty following some of your advice at CT. you cant win um all.

Strange thing about that race at Chas wouldn't back fav as thought price was too generous, similarly wouldn't back 2 for the place as again the price (above Evs) seemed wrong.
Perhaps too much attention to the market can be just as bad for you as none...!

It used to be a great indicator Cork, these days there seems too much money being matched in and around the same price with little movement. had it been 1.65 and drifted to 2.30 I wouldn't have touched it, but it was held at the steady price for almost 10 minutes before the race, in that situation i pay far less attention to it.

Penn R4 - the 7 very short, happy to take it on, think 2,3,5 & 8 all have as good if not better chance of winning, lay of 7 backed 5 & 8

last 3 races for me I think, laying teh 1 at Woodbine, think it will try to make all and something will pick it up wide in the closing stages. doing a 1/5 boxed exacta at CT, both horses exit the same key race and I think they'll be involved in the finish. and finally at Penn I'm backing the 3.

The all time favourite Myakka City (odds at 1.8 to win, 1.32 to place) gets home LAST OF THE FIVE, completely tailed off...

It's not the first time I see something similar in those US races.

To be fair to Pulg, I think he does have a point Cork..  Too many people are far too keen to jump up and shout 'fix', when, had they taken a bit of time to look at the form, they would have seen that the big fave wasn't all that he was cracked up to be.

The horse was strong over a couple of races at the 40K-50K level (and, before that, fantastic over 20K). It gets claimed by a new trainer who takes a couple of months to inspect it before dropping it right down to the 10K level. If the trainer appears to have that little confidence in a horse he's just spent 40K on, shouldn't that ring a few alarm bells with punters? (Particularly given that its last performance was its slowest for a number of races - a further decline in form would have had it falling very much into the clutches of those 10K horses.)

Chuck in the fact that all five of the horses going to post like to be on the lead or close to it early on, and you had plenty of potential for a strange result.

There were more than enough hints there that somebody shouldn't be taking the fave at short odds. There are certainly some crooked races in the US that nobody can account for, but that wasn't one of them. Sorry Nachete, but you're the one to blame here.

Not disputing his point Lord B merely pointing out that said information was no use after the event, good luck to him for doing the work and prospering from it.
He chose not to share his thoughts pre-race which is his prerogative but to then rub it in to someone that had obviously backed it seemed in bad taste and will gain no credibility with others, after all, we could all give reasons after the event.

I see your point Cork, but I do think that if the guy was coming on and saying his horse lost because the race was crooked, when there were in fact plenty of reasons for being dubious about it, then it's probably best for him if people here 'show' him what he may have missed.  He could just be left to his ravings, but would he learn anything from that?  Perhaps now he'll go back and look over the form and see that he probably shouldn't have been going odds-on on that horse, and that may save him from losing money on a similar race in the future.

Even in US Racing, I think crying 'fix' is quite serious, and people shouldn't simply hide behind it when there are possibly better reasons for their bet having lost.

Complete waste of time Lord B, the type of punter who blindly backs odds on shots will go through life doing so and never refer to a formsheet, they win or lose, never question themselves, if it wins its because they knew it was a good thing, if it loses, then its because everything is crooked, they are  no different the world over, every bookies has them from memory and on Betfair they post in their hundreds...!

Yeah, you're probably right Cork.  Almost certainly a hopeless case.  If so, I hope he's stupid enough to hang around long enough to give us all his money rather than a portion of it!
