4 out of 7 for me tonight

57% SR

truly appalling stuff from me tonight

I promise I'll do better next time Happy
Report rink rat August 6, 2010 7:26 AM BST
Your right on that, layed your race 7 guy and found myself in poorhouse. Thats what I get for taking a short cut. 57% eh?  you making fun of Doreen again ??Laugh
Report doreen01 August 6, 2010 10:44 AM BST
So thecanadian finally realises that 57% strike rates are achievable - however, if you read all my posts - I have NEVER stated that I achieve 57% strike rates !
Report thecanadian August 6, 2010 6:11 PM BST
Actually the strike rate was more like 85.7% but I didn't want to start another controversy (ie, posting one tip and betting another)

I sincerely hope punters are smart enough to know that posting a tip HOURS before the off and actually trading JUST BEFORE the off taking into account vital inputs like t0te action, BF market action and runners physical appearance in the paddock are two different things.

P.S. Doreen, I never said 57% SR is not achievable, what I said was there is no way most AVERAGE punters (that's YOU sweetie) can achieve that. Post some tips and prove me wrong Happy

P.S.S pulgita, for a "wizard" you seem to have an awful lot of losing nights on here.......eeeer, check that, I still haven't seen you have ANY winning nights on here. I suggest you go back to wizard school for a while LaughLaughLaugh
Report thecanadian August 6, 2010 6:37 PM BST
doreen, we can settle this REAL QUICKLY

start your own thread for the evening and we'll track your SR

If you hit a 57% SR for the evening I WILL STOP POSTING on here for a month

(I think I just hit you in the face with a glove, you can either accept the challenge or run away with your tail between your legs. WHICH WILL IT BE????)
Report thecanadian August 6, 2010 6:41 PM BST
pulgita, the same applies to you and I will even accept you ducting 4 runners in a 7 horse field (at the right price of course). Based on what I saw from you last night (ducting 4 and STILL MISSING the winner), it's safe that I'll be posting on here for a while yet Laugh

safe to say "tail between legs" option was chosen

no surprise Grin

At tote returns I make that a small loss on the day.
You may have made a profit on betfair odds but then again Doreen may also have made a profit at betfair odds but you were very quick to point out a loss at tote returns.

You are assuming FLAT bets, genius.

Go back to the drawing board.
Report thecanadian August 6, 2010 9:13 PM BST
Do this one sound like a FLAT bet to you, genius?

DEL MAR

Huge "now or never" race coming up on this 2. Nice turf to synthetic set-up, second off the layoff with nice maintenance works in between. And what's he have to beat, the 6 is still a maiden after 21 starts and the Baffert was thrown into the trash bin right off the bat.

I'm a big backer on t0te.

Fella, not that I am questioning your prowess when it comes to the ponies, I am however wanting to be nosey to see what your pick 4 ticket looked like... as to get it for $50k, you would have to have it 25 times... that's got to be some ticket... being nosey that's all..
Report thecanadian August 8, 2010 6:46 PM BST
Shiekh, always happy to help. Here's my Pick4 tickets, all $5 denominations:

Ticket A: 2,3,4,5,6,8,9 X 1,3 X 2 X 1,10 Cost $140
Ticket B: 2,3,4,5,6,8,9 X 1,2,3,4,6,7,8 X 2 X 1,10 Cost $490
Ticket C: 2,4,5,8 X 1,3 X 2 X 1,2,5,7,8,9,10 Cost $280
Ticket D: 3,4,5 X 1,2,3,4,6,7,8 X 2 X 1,5,7,10 Cost $420

Total Cost : $1,330
Total Pay Out: 10 X $5,083 = $50,830

Net Profit: $49,500

(the rest were all the Pick3's around Blame, a win bet and the exacta with QR)

Lovely Jubbly !!!

Just heard a bit of bad news about Tuscan Evening, you heard anything??

Great punting you jammy git !! Spend some on that lovely new addition of yours !! :)

No, I haven't heard anything, what's the word?

Well, just doing my morning trawling of the NTRA, DRF sites and somebody has posted that she had collapsed and seemed quite upset (rightly so) about it..
Would be a shame if anything untoward has happened to her, what with the Beverly D coming up in a couple of weeks...
Report thecanadian August 8, 2010 6:56 PM BST
wow, I have no idea TBH, I'll post if I get wind of something

what I heard this morning is that Zenyatta is heading east to the Beldame
Report Shiekh Me Hand August 8, 2010 7:02 PM BST
This breeders cup classic is certainly getting more and more interesting with each weekend passing us by, Blame was brilliant yesterday and tbh I really didn't think he could get to QR after the early fractions, I am not on the Zenyatta bus anymore, Wonder which of the Europeans (If any - given the record at Churchill) will make the trip and I fear Rachel more than Zenyatta for the boys. Lucky looked a monster though I really do think beating an average group of 3 year olds doesn't put you in with the big boys just yet.... your thoughts?
Report thecanadian August 8, 2010 7:16 PM BST
I'm staying with Blame.

When you can run down QR at 1 1/8 miles off of those fractions then you are some kind of runner. He continues to improve, he hasn't been abused (even yesterday Gomez didn't put him under the stick), Stall feels there's more there to give and 1 1/4 hits him right between the eyes.

There are several in NA right now that are better than Zenyatta IMO. Once you get passed the hype, you are left with a 6 year old mare that has run essentially the same campaign 3 years in a row, beating hapless mares most of the time along the way on synthetic.

Rachel is a complete non-factor for me, definitely passed her best and the Classic distance will be a big struggle.

Can you put there names up TC. Just interested in which horses you think are better than her.
Report thecanadian August 8, 2010 7:32 PM BST
Quality Road is better at anything shorter than 1 1/8 (he's got distance limitations) but I'm sure you are asking the question in terms of the 1 1/4 Classic distance. So, Blame, Rail Trip & a fast maturing Lookin at Lucky are 3 that are top of mind.

But before we get to the Classic, if it's true that she's coming east for the Beldame, she'll come face to face with a hard reality called Life at Ten
Report empty August 8, 2010 7:36 PM BST
Thanks TC. Had an idea Blame was one and just wondered who the others were.

If they all stay sound we have some very interesting racing coming up.
Report Shiekh Me Hand August 9, 2010 4:55 AM BST
Grade 1 winner Tuscan Evening (Ire), unbeaten in six starts this season and a leader of the turf female division, collapsed and died of an apparent heart attack while galloping out after a six-furlong workout on the turf Sunday morning at Del Mar.

The five-year-old Oasis Dream (GB) mare won the Gamely Stakes (G1) on May 29 at Hollywood Park and the Modesty Handicap (G3) at Arlington Park in her final two starts. She was preparing for the Beverly D. Stakes (G1) on August 21 at Arlington.

California Horse Racing Board Medical Director Rick Arthur, D.V.M., told Daily Racing Form that a necropsy will be done on Tuscan Evening to determine a cause of death.

"More often than not, we found out a specific cause," Arthur said.

Trained by Jerry Hollendorfer for owner William Deburgh, Tuscan Evening showed her versatility this season with graded stakes wins from 6 1/2 furlongs to 1 1/4 miles on the turf. She won 12 of 27 career races and bankrolled $1,138,508.

Bred in Ireland by Hascombe and Valiant Studs, Tuscan Evening is out of Group 3-placed winner The Faraway Tree, by Suave Dancer.

Isn't it a bit of a fallacy talking about % strike rates unless every bet you make is the same price?
