Betfair offers INPLAY on almost everything even on markets where there is very little liquidity (ie. ice hockey). What's the big deal to offer it on US Racing ? It should only add to liquidity to a product that is progressively getting very stale. Just too much smart money here now and most times it makes more sense to bet through TOTE. Give people a choice.

thanks for the replys, i dont bet on US racing , but if i was able to bet in running then i would. i think because US racing is based on times more so than UK racing , it is more suited to in running betting, especially as they show the sectional timings.

Chris: Who are these few players ? I am in Canada - the land of the "fast pictures". No one I know from here made any significant money on IN PLAY when offered here 3 years ago. We just enjoyed it. Most of the other guys I know no longer bet on Betfair anymore for reasons stated above. Besides Americans can go through a proxy server to bet on here - can't they ?

what would stop UK punters gambling on US racing in running, is the time delay in pictures. if it was only a 2-3 seconds time delay, i think there would be alot more interest for in running betting, which would mean more liquidity in the market.

how far behind where the pictures? i think betfair now own the company that broadcasts the pictures, so maybe they are in a position to speed them up so it is fair for everyone.

On NYRA tracks BF opened and closed the races in-sync with the radio feed that used to be on the NYRA website. Since there always is some buffering on internet radios I would assume the fast picture boys had at least 5 or close to 10 seconds advantage. It was a robbery, BF had to stop it.

if it was 2-3 seconds delay in pictures i think alot more people would play, if its 5-10 seconds im surprised they even allowed it to be put in play. so its all about the time delay in pictures whether it would be successful or not.

I stand corrected, ante. The UK Gambling Commission is the right answer.
BF had a little problem in explaining how it would be fair to the average British punter to play IR with pics that were AR LEAST 3 seconds behind and trading speeds that were NOT measured in milliseconds.

Somtimes Canadians can see English races on HPI or TVG. I figure that the signal is delayed approx. 3 seconds. I take that into account if betting IN PLAY. It's my choice.

angeleyes99, i am in the UK. my pictures are delayed by around 5-6 seconds on one channel and 3-4 seconds on the other channel. you should be able to tell how long the delay is by the suspend sign when the race starts. start counting when you see the suspend sign until they open the stalls and add 1-2 seconds i think. if its 3 seconds it not as bad as some.

Sure, no problem, it's a personal choice to allow others to defraud you. Sort of like, taking part in pyramid schemes or responding to letters to transfer millions into your account from Nigeria.
It's a personal choice, I'm cool with that, after all if it wasn't a "personal choice" all these scams just wouldn't exist.
The brainless sh1t that's posted on here never ceases to amaze me. What's next, I'm a masochist, please hit me.

Canadian: You mean like the brainless crap you usually post here. Wasn't you that said tellers can cancel tickets several seconds after a race is off !!!!!!!!
You're an embarrassment to Canadians on here.

It took me a while to dig this stuff up, and there's probably more if I was willing to put more time into it, but when it comes to setting amateur, dumb schmucks like you on who come on here and spew nothing but garbage, it's worth it.

"I’ve heard about a teller cancel delay. What is it? The purpose of the “teller cancel delay” is to allow tellers to cancel mis-issued bets but has the effect of delaying the transmission of final pari-mutuel pools, which in turn delays the posting of final odds. Should a significant cancellation occur, payouts on winning bets may be affected. CPMA rules do not allow teller cancel delays in Canada."
Cancelling tickets a few seconds after the off are not allowed in Canada, but allowed in the US and certainly allowed to those with direct access to the parimutuel pools without having to go through hubs.

Foreign Race Inter-track and Foreign Race Separate Pool Betting
Regulatory requirements for associations conducting betting on foreign races will be revised to address where foreign host rules may conflict with the rules usually applicable to Canadian pool hosts.
Key areas include:
* identifying currency exchange rates, * the treatment of entries and mutuel fields as betting interests; * the refunding provisions for bets and pools; * the operation of bet types, including the process by which a winning bet is determined; * the calculation of and responsibility for addressing over- and under-payments of payout prices; * minimum pay-out prices; and * procedures for when the race host posts an incorrect pay-out price.
Regulations will be introduced that allow Canadian associations to harmonize breakage rules with the foreign organization operating the betting pool. Requirements for associations to inform the betting public of the applicable breakage rules will be introduced.
The "refunding provisions" is in reference to refunding delays, that is cancellations of tickets a few seconds AFTER the off.
You are ignorant and I should have left you that way, but I wanted to set the record straight. Any 1diot can register a credit card and start trading on here but it takes having knowledge, real knowledge not the kind you pick reading horseracing magazines, to stand a half a chance of not becoming cannon fodder. BUT I SHOULDN'T EXPECT MORE FROM SOME WHO THINKS GETTING CHEATED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT SHOULD BE A "PERSONAL CHOICE".

at what point in a race do you back a horse in running? you can also lay in running, as the people with the fastest pictures dont always get it right. just look at the UK results page and see how low the losers have traded at in running.
