It is only sporting that if you are going to insult my picks (despite them showing a substantial flat-bet profit) that you get a thread of your own from which to reccomend strategies to others. I was merely doing a favour to those who asked. If you had bet every one I posted, you'd have done very well.... So... Here you go. Your very own platform.

Absolutley, I do not play every day though. I will be very happy to leave my tips on here and you are more than welcome to throw anything you like at them.
I will be picking win only. Hollywood Race 8 - #4 The Skinny Man Contested much better contests as a 2 yr old, shows a steady work pattern, really nothing in the race. M.L 2/1. My only real concern is the jock! Good luck all who follow... |

I will bet this blindly, which I NEVER do, because I have a very good feeling you will nail this one. :) Truly....the great thing about racing on Betfair is that it is possible for EVERYone to make a profit in the long run, even if we have a completely different views of every single race. Markey, it may surprise you to know that a couple of years ago I did run a succesful post on the U.S Horse Forum...
Back then, we had a highly successful group of U.S handicappers, it is too bad that a lot of the oldies seem to have vanished from the forum! Time for the new brigade to pick up the slack, I have nothing personal against you, please be assured of that, I just feel that you leave yourself open when you call yourself an expert... I am sure that you are a nice chap. Game on !! |

Sheikh: I should have been clearer....when i called myself an 'expert,' I did actually mean the SPORT itself, not specifically betting (my father been an owner/breeder since the 70s).....I do ok betting-wise, esp. so far in 2010 - but its a VERY tough game, and I am humble enough to know I may never crack it long-term. I do not think I am better than anyone else at selecting winners - or structuring wagers. No sir. What I meant was there is very little about the animal itself, or breeding, etc, etc, that I am not knowledgeable about. Does that make more sense? I am involved in the sport FIRST and a gambler SECOND, in other words. again...cheers.

Zero excuses on my part, what a disapointment the horse has turned into, i have followed it from day one, 240k horse probably wouldnt get 15k for it after today, made the lead easily enough but ,.... shame it wasnt at charles town over 4 1/2 furlongs !!! ha ha! Gonna study the DRF tonight now for tomorrow !! PRESENTLY -$100 |

Well, I had a few 4 figure scores already the last few weeks, and am well up, but this one really tickled me just because of the price. I create my own 'speed' figures for UK racing now, and they seem to be deadly at the moment. I had him ranked 2nd, a 5-1 chance. 100-1 was a crazy price. :)

Lay Super Saver for me, appears to have a lot of things in his favor, possibly only pace of the race but I am prepared to let that be, think Looking at Lucky gets a great trip for once, sit behind the derby and explode in the straight. Really do not like a lot of the others, think Carocatardo has a great ew chance..but for the top spot Looking at Lucky. Good luck All ! |

Thanks Sheikh. My play of the day is the exact opposite. Not saying L at L cannot win, I know he can...just that I think under 7/2 is too low in this field. I used to be a big fan of his, and he is tough as nails...but I have a feeling he prefers 8 to 8 1/2 furlongs, and there are a few I am expecting to surpass his best today. Enjoy the race!

All this self congratulatinge makes me want to puke...... Sheikh had tipped THREE HORSES here if you discount his place/show ones..... One odds on favourite bombed out dismally (last night) - one was 6th and NEVER had a chance (derby) and one finally won (Lucky)- SO in my book 1 out of 3 is p.1ss poor - SO wise up.....! Super star Markey laid Lucky but didn't have the balls to lay him in the derby - a race the horse never had a chance of winning........ So the moral of the story is.... If you relay on these guys for you tips then please let me know in advance so that I can LAY LAY LAY....... FOR the record I posted BIG AGAINST Lucky/GG for the Derby but backed him tonight at Pimlico in a 'farcical' race he could NOT lose....... Now enough of the s1hite and start posting some sense PLEASE.... |

....and btw, Mick....since I began my new bankrool on April 26, using new figures I have devloped for the UK, I have multiplied my initial investment to 65 times its original size using only 1% backs, and 3% lays, which I will be happy to prove to you be emailing you my backs and lays since then..... Spreadsheet. Just because some of us choose to break up the day-to-day monotony by posting on big races, does not mean we're not kicking *** all over the place. Relax. and send me a tweet...markeypd...I'll send you my record.

and ONE MORE THING....its obviously a good thing to post 1 out ot 3 winners, as Sheikh did, when the one winner pays 4.6 or so..is it not? Would most punters not be thrilled with a 20% return on investment? Two professionals I know operate in the 10-15% range.... As for me, you are right, my posts (lays) have been awful lately. Poor run of luck on the posts. :)

I have been on here since 2001 (before you start saying I joined in 2008 - I have 2 accounts - Forum names - spiller & spiller1)......& in this time I have seen many "tipsters" come and go. You have good ones and bad ones. I am here to tell you know that MARKEYPD is up there with the best. He would be in my top 3 come to think of it. So "wind your neck in". merci Spill. My only regret is actually understated Sheikh's profitabilty...it was actually 53.33% return on investment. go ahead and LAY LAY LAY LAY them...at your peril. (while we're at it, check out MY backs in my thread.....lay all of them too. 3 out of 8, 1 was 12.0, one was 13.0....can;t be a good stategy Mick suggests to LAY LAY LAY...unless he knows something about our upcoming selections that we don't??)
As for me, certainly not a tipster...its just that tbeing a full-timer can get very lonely when your girlfriend and dog don't care about your endeavors. :) Like you, Spiller, I post merely for the camaraderie.... if people don't like my picks, go ahead and lay them! but don't insult OTHER people's records, ESPECIALLY when it so clearly shows a profit? lol madness. |
