Why are American horses so much better mannered than ours?

I have always wondered that, but its true. Likely because generally they are stabled at the track they run at....and are therefore comfy and at home..... UK horses just come off the box, usually, and having travelled with a lot of horses, I know how much that can mess with their minds.
