maybe one more chance....but if she loses, than yah. Retire her. No point in a horse like that coming 2nd.

SORRY......I have to say it..........I blame jackson/asmussen.
This horse didn't need or want a SIX month lay off - a few months, Yes for sure but not a life time (which is 6 months for a horse like this). Rachel only knows one thing and that is racing - when it was taken away from her she probably thought she was retired and would never see a track again. Like in humans, muscle/form degrades very quickly. It takes time to regain this - that said I did think she would be ready and would not race until she was ready - she clearly isn't but I would not jump on a 'retire her' band wagon. Give her another race and then I think we will see her (almost) back to her best. I don't think we will ever see the RA of last year - winning by big distances - but winning nonetheless. |
