Hi all,

Thinking of punting on the USA horses. Been doing ok on the UK races, so hoping to expand my horizons.

My question is, do the markets differ substantially from the UK races, or do the same rules apply - form, form and more form?

Thanks in advance for any serious replies...

HR

PS do you use BF markets? They are so illiquid?

I am Canadian...and I have done the OPPOSITE to you: learned to go from US/Canadian racing all my life, so UK racing. My advice is this: a) learn the trainers and their patterns. b) learn everything you can about Speed Figures (Beyer in particular) and then IGNORE IT! lol. seriously, though, yuou need to understand speed and pace figures, and then learn how to beat 'the crowd' by interpretetiung it differently. and MOST IMPORTANT: Learn to predict ahead of time who will be the favourite on the tote, and get on the legit favourites on Betfair BEFORE THE money comes in. There are times, esp. at smaller tracks, that you KNOW a horse will go off 4/5 or lower on track, but it is sitting at 3-1 on the tote as the late money hasn't come yet.....so, Betfair follows, and you can get great prices before the market has time to react. Thats my 2 cents

Play a small bet on t0tes every so often, it will teach you wagering strategies at a nominal cost.
