I also make a living out of racing ,the UK Racing not the US racing,I am retired through choice not age ,although I am not far off retirement age.
I have also been involved in racing as am amateur.
The low grade US racing is so**If you make a living out of racing surely you can see that many of these races you are betting on are jockeys races.
So many of the runners in the US are not capable of winning a race,the races are uncompetitive with mainly only 2/3 runners with realistic chances of winning,how many times when you look at a race and you narrow it down to 2 that one of them will win easy and the other one runs badly,not coincidence imo.
The knowledgeable punters apart from a few have deserted this rubbish as they can see that like most thing in the US its all a charade.
You posted the above last evening.I'm confused by the doublethink.
If the races are uncompetitive, and mainly there's only 2/3 runners with a realistic chance of winning, shouldn't that be an advantage to a guy making a living at this like you? Instead, you claim this has turned knowledgeable punters off of US racing. Hard to understand the thinking there IMO.
This is not directed at you, but as a general comment, is there anyone trading on the Bf markets who doesn't claim to do this for a living? I'm beginning to wonder.

yeah if ur saying races that are uncomopetitive then thats better for my strategie of betting i would rather bet on a uncompetitive race at philadeplhia park than those ultra competitive cheltenham races

What I was trying to say was due to the largely uncompetitive nature of US racing there are many very short price favourites ,this is mainly due by process of elimination of the opposition,many of these races boil down to just 2/3 horse races,many of these races are jockeys races,with only 1 of the fancied horses trying. Ive seen races where horses have been blatantly stopped,not just now and again,but on a regular basis. The low grade racing is totally corrupt,have even seen Dominguez and Centeno ride a fair few exceptionally poor races. I dont want to get into a debate, these are just my own observations,so after 6 years playing the US racing I have decided its not for me,to me there is very little value in backing horses in the US. |

I think you're confusing a much better developed system of assessing horses ability to compete in races in the USA with fixed or "jockeys" races. Although I do a lot more betting on UK racing what is plain to see to me is racing is much more transparent in the US compared to the UK. Of course there are dodgy jockeys and dodgy trainers in the US, but in my humble opinion of following both US and UK over the last 10 the UK has far more questionable stuff. Fallons antics at Fakenham yesterday would not be tolerated in the US. |

Apologies Frank, indeed he was not riding NH yesterday. It was Fallons performance on "Eye for the Girls" in coming second to Aviso at Yarmouth 3.25pm yesterday. Final furlong, well it's just embarrassing!

Unfortunately as soon as people accept that KF is only a shadow of what he was 3 years ago the better,he is riding like a jockey with little confidence at the moment,losing the ride on Presvis was a big blow to him and then the shocking ride on Gitano Hernando. He will never be champion jockey again,Ryan Moore far better/stronger,Moore and Buick will be the two to dominate the UK turf flat for a good few years to come. |

Frank, in my opinion, there are "non-triers" in every racing jurisdiction on the planet. No country has the exclusive rights or the monopoly in that or is blatantly worse than others. The US racing "bad rides" are perhaps easier to spot due to the smaller fields and shorter distances.
It matters not by the end of the day, unfortunately those observations ALWAYS come AFTER we finished trading. The challenge I think is being able to "sniff out" those situations BEFORE they happen, by paying close attention to what story the market is trying to tell. One of the things that we wholeheartedly agree on is that the authorities/regulators/judges are clearly looking the other way. No surprise there, this is an industry that has always used denial as its first line of defense. Nothing will ever change. |

Some decent points made on this thread....didnt see you last night TheCan..but have enjoyed the banter with you over the past few mths...just to say I have thrown in working the US Horse racing...wasnt getting enough time to study what with UK racing and Football Wolrd Cup looming..wish you well mate...
