Share tips are always crap.
As an example, check the performance of the last 3 years "beginning of the year" tips from the Guardian: 2016 FTSE: +14.4% Guardian tips: -12.3% 2017 +7.63% / -0.28% 2018 -12.5% / -27.7% An under-performance of 44% to the index over that time! Following their tips over the last 3 years would have seen your money eroded by nearly 37% before inflation.
