I use IE, and the way I log in is to enter my details, wait until it hangs then refresh the page by pressing F5.
If it still hangs I press F5 again. I've been logging on like this for some weeks now.
Like you say it's unbelievable that the site is so difficult to log into.
And if you phone them up and tell them, it's always your fault.
