Mining & Oil Stocks

Been picking up shares in a few small miners. Only one has shown an increase but they are for long term.

Herencia is a big gamble but if they can get into production then the price should rise.

Also taken a punt on aureus they have made a slight increase so in profit there but will hold longer term.

I think that the miners are worth a buy as long as you keep the amount you buy sensible.

Interesting – it’s the old “catching a falling knife” question.

Mining stocks have been on a downtrend for a few years now and are definitely looking cheap. Obviously there is the potential for further falls (there’s a quote about going from an 80% loss to a 90% loss requiring another 50% in losses but I can’t remember the exact quote or who made it).

If you can truly resist selling if the stock halves then you are certainly buying cheap.

Personally, I would rather wait for some true upward momentum even though it would mean missing out on the first lot of gains – especially as generally stocks worldwide are over-valued on a quite a number of measures - mining stocks are unlikely to escape a downturn even if they are cheap.

Herencia still moving downwards. This is my biggest holding so taking a bit of a battering but was purchased for the long term and it's a small enough % to swallow up unhappily if it goes wrong.
Would like to see others opinions of companies worth investigating.

When I day biggest holding I meant in miners not in total.

Herencia still taking a bashing. So e of these aim companies seem no more than an easy wage for the people involved.
I punted this on the chance of their mines being dug but still no action.
