Well it is a great shame but for the last ten years or so it hs been (sometimes) good fun.
Does anyone remember the days when to FTSE day up/down market had £30K traded and the 20-minute markets £70K+
Will have to think of going out to work now!

Yes I remember the good old days, before even 20 min markets, when just daily, midday and daily spreads, when 50 -100k traded and more was the norm, bets for 1000s going on non-stop.

Its a pity they don't keep the daily FTSE as it's no work for them unlike the 20 minute markets, and even now is some days a bit of fun when someone else there....please Betfair?

That`s not a bad idea zz. Have you any influence with the market setters?

Sadly I have no influence, maybe I will try and contact them.

Yes, this is a shame.

I started out here on the financials. First (in 2003ish) when the active markets were the FTSE daily ones, then (from c. 2005 to 2011) with the FTSE intradays.

A big problem, I think, was that these markets which were essentially 'in-play' weren't treated as such by Betfair. They probably would have benefited from a 1 or 2 second time delay to protect the punters from the fast professionals.

That`s a fair point C3 which I have never considered before. Is this the first time you have raised it?
But, in any case, why did the 20-minute markets die so suddenly about three weeks ago?
