a dangerous alarmist or just a harmless windbag ?
Whilst I find his extreme views interesting and amusing to read, I'm damned if I can find a way to make them useful, apart from just turning into a " goldbug" that is.
Are his views materially impacting anyone at all on here ?
Or is he viewed as just an over educated nutcase, who makes Romney's views on the less economically fortunate in society look positively socialist ?

Btw if he eased up a bit on the persistent vitriol and condescension, he might improve his case somewhat.
But at the moment, all I see is banana peels all over the place from an overall investment viewpoint.

Yes, leave that man in peace, everything will be better then - he is not a threat for you. Regarding the alcohol
query, you have self mentioned that you "like" alcohol and because I do that too I have developed a feeling for
when someone have been "too" ambitious.

He may not be a direct threat to me right now, but if his type of views ever gained precedence in the wider world, then I certainly think he could become one. He spreads fear and distrust, under the guise of analytical objectivity. I tnink he could be quite dangerous potentially to society as a whole.
But maybe as you say it's just the huge amounts of alcohol in my system causing all this concern.
Btw I'm interested to learn more about these " alcohol feelings " of yours.
Sounds fascinating.

Nothing funny on here I'm afraid to say.
Just despairing comments on the never ending, totally repetitive postings of an obsessed economist, who thinks the world is teetering on the edge of total collapse, and that nobody, apart from him that is, is paying attention and/or knows or understands the real facts and figures. He stands alone in his fight against the selfish, corrupt interests of the " banking cartel" and their compliant politicians, who apparently are storing away their wealth in anticpation of such a collapse.
We're all fiddling apparently while Rome burns ( we being the majority of the world's real income producers.) You know the ones who don't trick up balance sheets to merge corporations to make them look bigger and stronger than they really are, to boost up their stock prices for the benefit of a few insiders, and then take massive fees for advising them. That apparently is a worthwhile occupation, not in any way adding to the woes of the world being basically caused by financial trickery in self regulated markets, motivated entirely by pecuniary self interest.
And then the same such person has the nerve to lecture all and sundry about the financial dishonesty being committed by others.

What do I win?

P.S. You better start working on a good story why your wife may be looking for food in trash bins soon if these f/kers lose control and I assure you they will, otherwise she may finally figure out that you are dumber than a bucket of nails............nails is not the preferred word I had in mind but I decided to keep it civil. The same old message accompanied by the same old personal abuse.
At least it's predictable that it's going to occur.
I just wish the financial mkts. were as easily predictable.
Oh I forget. They are. It's all done and dusted. No ifs, no buts.
It's going to play out exactly as Menelaus predicts.
His lot are generally called the " guns and gold brigade".
We've heard a lot about the gold from Menelaus to date.
When is he going to give us the skinny on the guns ?
You know what I would not be at all surprised if in his old army days, that he was also a champion crack shot.

Sooner or later everything reverts to the mean. Everyone will have to take their medicine and no amount of money printing can stop that. This is not conjecture, it is simple math. Based on the way events are unfolding, that day is not that far away. Something your pea sized brain evidently struggles to understand otherwise you wouldn't be spewing "we'll muddle through" over and over again, against all evidence, and without being able to explain why or refute any of my positions on here. When I'm on the beach and feel an earthquake and see the water on the beachfront retreat, I don't wait for a 50 foot tsunami waive to hit me in the face to know I'm in danger.

Didn't they cover this part on X-Factor?

Just a turn of phrase.
I'm fully aware of the others out there who have similar views to Menelaus.
It's his absolute opinion that he and these others are unconditionally correct in their forecasts that I have issue with.

Evidently even your sarcasm meter is not working.

I asked the question rhetorically, I was not interested nor do I care to know if they covered that part on X-Factor !!!!!

I have seen your "say-nothing" clueless posts on here long enough, under BOTTY and later under FROGGY, to know that you are nothing more than an annoying distraction who made a habit of coming on top of my posts and drowning them with epic nonesense. Hence I banished you to a mere white-space on the page.

I wish I could forecast a more brighter outcome for your pea sized brain to understand, but there isn't one. Either you understand mathematics or you buy into the lies they feed you since this stuff is way over your head and you are incapable of applying any critical thinking............ and wish for a miracle. It comes down to making a personal choice.
Report Menelaus October 14, 2012 10:37 AM BST
Instead of coming on top of my posts virtually every time I put up a thought on here shouting "Melly is wrong, Melly is wrong, we'll muddle through" POST SOME EVIDENCE, A SLIVER OF ANALYSIS, A MORCEL OF INTELLIGENT THINKING that actuall refutes my positions. And no, "because I read that somewhere in a magazine, or my financial advisers said so" doesn't constitute an answer.

Do that or STFU because even seeing your forum name over the white-space is starting to get unbearably annoying.
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR October 14, 2012 1:41 PM BST
Menelaus is still missing my point, but that's perhaps unfderstandable as he is not actually reading my posts.
I'm not saying that he is wrong in his forecasts.
I'm just saying that he may not be totally right and that you would be very stupid to invest solely on the basis of his extreme opinions.
eg I believe he said recently tha he now has something around over 50% of all his assets in physical gold- or did I get that wrong ?
It seems to me that his hero or zero approach is far too dangerous for mere mortals.
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR October 14, 2012 2:15 PM BST
Btw this is a thread started by me and he finds it annoying that I post on my own threads.
Does he now own the whole forum lock stock and barrel ?
I have already stated that I'm not a trained economist and that I am not therefore able of carrying on a detailed, line by line theoretical debunking of the extreme analysis presented on here by Menelaus.
His views read in whole as well thought out and intelligent to a normal reasoned man and as such have to logically form part of one's investment decisions.
But we all have to make such decisions on the basis of a summary of all the well presented and intelligent opinions out there, and there are many, many contrary theoretical viewpoints being presented by very well respected and credentialled economists. Can they all be as extremely wrong as Menelaus claims to be extremely right ? I find it hard to accept that position.
Therefore I chose to compromise and not take his views fully on board and to grant a degree of credence to these conflicting viewpoints.
My right surely. Btw I don't at all buy into the " corrupt banking/political cartel" theories of his.
Does that make me necessarily the total idiot Menelaus suggests I am ?
I hope not.

Report Menelaus October 14, 2012 6:43 PM BST
I unblocked you thinking you may have taken up my challenge in putting some meat on the bone of the nonsense you keep repeating on here. It looks like I wasted my time.

All I still see is the mention of some elusive "contrary theoretical viewpoints", some I assume contrary to mine, by some unmentioned "respected and credentialed" economists WITHOUT any mention as to WHAT these contrary views say, WHAT they are based on, HOW are they backed with analysis and facts, WHY they should be believed and WHO exactly are these economists that are advocating those views and WHY should they be considered credible.

I don't think you know enough to evaluate opposing views and use some critical thinking to reach a conclusion on your own. Hence you seem lost in space, confused by the speed and complexicity of current financial events and by your own admission, unless you made it up, you leave your investment decisions to your "financial advisers".

And yes, if you are still denying the existence of a money cartel, YOU TRULY ARE AN IDIOT.

Report FINE AS FROG HAIR October 14, 2012 8:17 PM BST
Now you're just being disingenuous.
You know full well that there is a full and active debate in external economic circles about all this current crisis.
As to me debating you on it in detail on this closed forum, I have admitted that I do not have the qualifications to do so.
But to extend that admission to say ( as you do) that it means that I cannot thus follow and understand these serious external debates, and make personal investment decisions based on a composite of the various conflicting viewpoints,is utter and pure rubbish.
Why exactly should I believe your views in totality over all others ?.
Suely if I did then, taking your lack of intelligence argument ( mine that is) at its face value, my decision to do that would also be just as tainted and incorrect as any contrary decision I make ?
You can't have it both ways.
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR October 14, 2012 8:22 PM BST
And please just suspend all the vitriol and anger in your posts for a while at least.
It really is totally counterproductive.
I'm very surprised you do not seem to comprehend that.
An angry man is rarely listened to on society.
And angry men tend to make irrational decisions.
But I suppose your response to all that will be just to substitute " stupid" for "angry " and throw it all back at me.
Can't win I suppose.
Report FINE AS FROG HAIR October 14, 2012 8:31 PM BST
Btw whilst I probably wouldn't pay good money to go and hear one of your public lectures on all this, which would surely just a regurgitation of the same mantra, I would go to hear you being debated by persons from your peer group.
Do you engage in such debates and are any of them on public record ?
Can you provide some links on them if so ?
I really would like to see how you and your theories have been challenged by fellow academics , and how you have come out of it all.

Report Menelaus October 15, 2012 8:10 AM BST
No, actualy, just STFU, the more you speak the more you confirm how lost you really are.

I couldn't give a toss whether you believe my positions or not, it's just that with the exception of regurgitating generalities about "full and active debates" you are unable to post a single sentence that refutes what I'm saying on here. Get it through you think head, infinite growth on a planet with finite resources is not possible and today's money creation system is a ponzi scheme that has reached it's end. Only idiots continue to have full and active debates on what is a mathematical certainty.

And please, don't make me laugh, never mention the word debate in any of your posts. You are incapable of debate not because you lack training in the subject of economics but rather because your repetitive nonsense about "active debates", "opposing views" and the like clearly show that you are totally incapable of original thoughts. Mumbling scrambled generalities on here doesn't hide your greatest shortcoming........critical thinking.

By the way, three long winded "say nothing" posts and no mention of wether you have enough intestinal fortitude to admit that you are 'Botty. Just drown that observation with nonsense seems to be your mode operandi on here. I knew I should have re-blocked you before signing off last evening. Well, no one ever said I'm perfect.

I have accepted finally that I will have to join the ever growing list of others who have tried and failed in the past to try to get you to take a more reasonable and balanced view of things. And some of these others have been very bright cookies indeed.
I think that probably one of the most unfortunate things to come out of all this, is that it is pretty clear that far too many on here are not prepared to debate or accept your views and opinions, simply because they don't like you personally.
You alienate pretty much everybody, friend or foe, with your arrogance and rudeness. Which is a real pity, truth be told.
Not too much of a problem for you perhaps on a dumbed down forum like this, but in real life ? I wonder what the true story is there.

You demontrated that you can't because you are completely incapable of critical thinking. A clueless mug regurgitating erroneus things he doesn't even understand, exposing himself like a complete fool in the process.

Any clueless mug who resorts to asking that I post links to debates with my "peers" is basically shamelessly admitting that they are incapable of presenting a an atom of evidence that my positions are wrong themselves but perhaps someone else out there, a lot more intelligent and knowledgeable than themselves, has managed to do so. Laughable.
