I am currently looking at re-jigging my portfolio and want to add funds with non/low correlation to equities.

Researching on the net throws up lots of suggestions but they are not always as non-correlated as suggested.

The majority of my investments are held in an ISA and I would like to keep it that way which rules out a lot of alternative investments.

Gold is an obvious choice but I am already quite heavily exposed there.

Absolute return funds would seem like a good idea but most have shocking returns. Two that look interesting are CF Eclectica Absolute Macro and Standard Life Inv Global Absolute Return Strategies. Both provide fairly decent returns with very low correlation.

Another fund I like the look of is Troy Trojan Class I Fund which has returned 50% over 5 years (60% over 4) again with very low correlation.

I know none of the above will set the world alight but they should dampen volatility whilst offering steadyish returns.

So the big question is – What alternatives can anybody suggest?
