This all took place earlier today at the Eurozone Finance Ministers meeting in Cyprus with Christine Lagarde and Mario Draghi also in attendance. These statements were uttered while these people were in the same press conference. Yes, THE SAME press conference.
Juncker: "the option of giving Greece more time to complete it's economy modernization programme is on the table" (NOTE: Portugal was given an "extension" a few days ago)
Lagarde: "Greece has already made significant progress but we must consider how quickly these reforms can be implemented and must be on the ready to help" (NOTE: the use of the word "help" is intentional but I'll let you figure out why on your own)
Fekter: "we will give them more time if they need for that but probably not more money" (NOTE: pay particular attention to the word "probably")
Draghi: "all bond buying needs conditionality - strict and effective conditionality" (NOTE: strict???? Did Draghi miss the memo that Portugal just got an extension and didn't he hear what the first three on the panel said about Greece moments before???)
And the most amazing thing, not a single member of the press asked a follow up question taking these criminals to task. Not a "Mrs Fekter can you please elaborate how Greece could survive an extension without needing additional bailout money?", not even a "Mr. Draghi, in view of what happened with Portugal and what seems is about to now happen with Greece concerning an extension, do you think that undermines the credibility of your strict conditionality requirement?".
Not one question. Zilch. Nada. I guess if you want to continue to attend these lavish events in nice warm weather places like Cyprus and enjoy some of the eastern european girls available for hire there, you better keep your mouth shut.
