Trading curriencies and the dark pools

Last night, aussie time I was without any positions after trading the AUD during the rates announcement.

I then took a number of postions . Within a few  hours i was down almost 23k.

Everyone of the postions I took was underwater.On my style of trading this is just not possible- something had to be in the black.

I then checked if i had made any mistakes on entry, if i had done multiple things wrong.

No, I had executed properly.

What the hell was going on????

I was short gold at 1666, when it hit 1671 I was stunned.

I was short the euro and it just kept climbing.

  Around midnight I want to go to bed so I set my exits.

I was thinking" this is just impossible". I  decided to wait another 5 or 10 mins.

Then, at exactly the same time ALL the positions began to reverse-WTF?

Gold dropped from 1671 to 1661 in about 15 mins.

Th e euro from around 132.80 to 132.20 at the same time.

I was long usd/chf and it just shot upwards.

I thought " what the hell is going on here???  I turned on CNBC expecting to see some big news- nothing.

I turned on sky news to see if a bomb had gone off somewhere- nothing.

I closed out ALL the positions at profits, totaling 11k. - A ridiculous turnaround in about half an hour.

I sat there and asked my self- what just went on? Then of course I realised- the dark pools

The same dark pools that squeezed the euro and the AUD to preposterous levels, had decided to make the reverse and take out all the stops.

It makes you realise just how much power they have and how as a trader you are totally vulnerable at any time.Mostly when there is no valid reason for big moves.
