oh dear melly, you put your foot in it again.Try to appear smart you googled to find an obscure trade and as usual YOU WERE WRONG.

Lets see "loaded up", what would that be? @ 1000 per ct 20 cts? 50 cts? Lets say 50, thats a "loaded up type posi. 50000x .24= 12k. no thats not big enough, tiny really.More likely 500 for a big shot like you melly.

so 500,000 x .24=120k
now  .18

don't be stupid ben. There is no way melly will have lost money on this. His "proprietary trading system" will have closed the trade just before it went the wrong way, and gone "MASSIVELY SHORT" instead. or he will try and claim the trade only lasted for "less than 30 seconds". LaughLaugh

polyahole, I took a trip to NYC for a couple of days and couldn't post.

You continue to come from under that rock you live under to throw your heels at me validating my suspicion that she entertained many a sailor in Wellington. You never know, but I suspect the chances are more than fair, you could have some British blood in you.

This is the range it traded the day you posted that;

Prev Close:    0.29
Open:    0.25
Bid:    0.17
Ask:    0.18
Strike:    62.00

How convenient you assumed I'm still in the trade at the close, but didn't get out of the trade with a profit at 0.25? Another bad habit she passed on to you, a slime ball attitude with sh1t for brains.

I trade with tight stops, I even posted the trade was out of the money when I posted it in an exchange with biscuits, but a halfwit like you still thinks I'm riding it down and "hoping for a miracle". How rich…..

I took a small loss. So?

All the half-wits on here (funny you all show up at the same time), post that are always on the right side of the trade. There are two kinds of traders, those who make some losing bets along the way, and liars.

I know which of the two groups you halfwits fit in.

Had tight stops - check
Was only in the trade for "less than 30 seconds" - check.
closed the trade the second it was in the money - check.

at least if you are going to try and aftertime, do it on something which has actually made money - not just to try and limit the damage of what was yet another clueless post by you.

This is getting farcical

*************************
sorry couldnt resist. because it s easy to take the pss thinking no one can double check what one is saying...

on feb 29th by 7pm - at time menelaus reported the trade - the 62 march puts on QQQ were in the money, as since 3.30pm they never trade below 25cents. HH testimony, right? but of course our friend bought before then, as although he knows that the only plan is to print, print, print, he felt that during that testimony BB was going to be less dovish....
in the eve they closed at 29, so a whopping 20% higher than the imaginary purchase price. a good chance to show who is good at trading, right? so yeah indeed it was classic aftertiming. and even more classic denial afterwards. how did you define it? FARCICAL?
pity the day later we never saw the price again, 2 trades went thru at 25 cents, in minimal size ( ehy, i got the systems you claim to watch, so i know exactly where and when something traded ), of course menelaus could have sold back his puts at a profit of a cent but for a profit he wouldnt be able to use even for his lunches at scalini.
most likely he kept the positions, to be fair he s astute enough that in a zero sum game, paying away spreads to go in and out of a position to job a pip it s antieconomical and the road to ruin. i would think i would respect him more he if s still in the position, at the end of the day what s the point to claim to be a financial genius if all you re after is a bit of market scalping - which is what annoys him about ben and whippet and all the others.. but far from me to criticise your trade ( although seems you cant resist to go short apple, in a way or another right? ), who cares whether you made a fortune or lost it. and well done for posting a position finally.

dont get me wrong, this forum has become a circus, and it s good only for a laugh. it s full of jokers, so it s not only you. so i should have a go even at other guys here probably. but trust me, you re fastly losing the plot and you look so childish it s not even funny.

ps
i know exactly what you re going to reply (" where were you when the others were making stupid claims" or " woohho werent you the one that said we werent going to have inflation?" or some other rubbish ) so dont even bother, anything slightly offensive told by you, it got to be taken as a compliment.

I didn't bother reading your post until now tbh.

You stooped to a new low. If you really had the "systems" to track the trade, then you wouldn't be posting this rubbish. Or, is it perhaps that you figured out that all these other mugs on here are trading with yahoo charts therefore I can post this and get away with it. The trade was out of the money a mere two hours after it was executed.

What's really childish is opening your post with a disingenuous "I couldn't resist". Show some marbles and say "I can't stand you because you took me to school on here more times than I can remember so much that I'm not posting anymore, I'm going to take a shot". I'd have more respect for you that way......if that was ever possible.

ok, tell me exactly at what time you bough the puts on the 29th of feb, whether before or after HH.
then tell me how many contracts you bought at that level, and whether at 7pm, the time you posted your comment, the options were higher or lower in price ( definition of the trade being in the money ). you trying to be smart and fool less sophisticated posters here just because you bought an OTM option, but we both know that you lie and there s no way out of this hole.
if you rely on bloomberg, use the trade recap function, it s so easy to check tic by tic. also, you didnt reply yet which timezone you were referring to when you mention 'in the morning'.
we both know why..
ah, and for fairness, tell everyone if you re still in the trade or not, what commission you pay to your brokers and so on.

ehy, that i dont like you it s obvious, you hijacked the forum and made it into your personal kindergarden. you enjoy controversy too much, you re never ready for an exchange of views, you think you re the only one with a clue. you never let go. mostly, i dont like your character, always jealous, almost upset at anybody else's success ( whether genuin or invented, who cares??? this is cyberspace ).
thats why i never come in anymore. you never gave me any lessons, thank you very much, and in fact i think you embarassed yourself so many times on this forum while discussing with me ( this farce of the QQQ puts it s just an example, i remember picking you off on some leveraged gold etf you had to admit you had closed within hours of the initial post; or the even more ridiculous claim you had made money from your puts on apple, pretending no one knew/remembered you have to pay for the option premia; and i stop here else i need to dig the ge, the gs and the citi...)

you re quite good as an analyst, although too much on the bearish side for my liking ( but thats a fact, 99pct of the blogosphere is bearish, to counter the 99pct of the tv camp is bullish ).
if you limited yourself to post comments, views and ideas instead of trying to pick up a fight agst everyone you would actually find that even such a forum could be useful.

enjoy the sunday, and good luck on your puts.

Hilarious how you went from ubber-confident you knew what took place to "ok, then tell me exactly, how many, how much, how much commission, etc. etc."

I'm not wasting any more time with you mate, if it gives you a buzz to post falsehood and vitriol on here, knock yourself out.

By the way, I happen to agree with you that the forum has turned into a circus, where else would you find benny the clown. The difference between you and I though is that I take the time to express that opinion virtually every day on here when I see rubbish posted, and rather forcefully at that. I would suggest that in the future, you should take the time to post "the forum has turned into a circus" whenever you see something posted that supports your belief, not just when you want to take a shot at someone you've had run-ins in the past. Otherwise, your opinion lacks credibility (not that you ever had any) and become glaringly obvious to anyone who can count to two without missing a number in between that you have an agenda.

P.S. "you re quite good as an analyst" ???? Are still hung over from last evening, or did you find religion all of a sudden??? Whoops
Report johnnie walker March 4, 2012 4:18 PM GMT
of course im confident. i can see you are not confident to write down all your trade details, as now you dont have access to trade recap from bloomberg so you cannot make up a story? i can get a log of all trades in this security when i want. so we can double check it when you are ready.
this is not vetriol, this is (in minimal part) exactly what you try to do when you try to knock people down for no reason ( take pierre for example, and his winning trades in aud-ish, or eurchf in august ).
of course i was expecting a reply along these lines:"im not wasting time with you, blahblah" as it s typical of your persona.
anyway, my point about analyst stands, please be aware that i said analyst and not trader or trading advisor.

I would have been happy to answer all your questions HAD YOU ASKED THEM first before posting your falsehoods. Giving you reasons to hide behind the rubbish you originally posted is not in this posters make-up. Also when it becomes the standard on this forum to provide this level of detail on trades for EVERYONE, then I would be posting what you are asking without you even having to ask. I'm flattered I'm held to a higher standard but I'll take a pass nonetheless.

I never claimed anywhere on this forum EVER that I'm into giving financial advice, unless this is what you think working in mergers and acquisitions really means, so stop spreading more falsehoods. I have said though repeatedly that my analytical skills that you even acknowledge are pretty descend, enable to comment on here on economic issues and trades with more credibility than all the other clowns posting on here that you give a pass to.........oooops, never mind, I forgot, there's that AGENDA thingie again.

menelaus, sorry for a further and late reply.

your main problem is to aknowledge that the market is made by different individuals, and by differnt genres of traders. if anything, and i hope you take my comment as an advice and not as fuel for further word fighting, i think you re the one confused.

i repeat, i think you are very well read in economic matters, and you can discuss many issues with ease.
your problem, and the trade in the qqq shows, is that you keep thinking that being literate in financial and economic affairs give you the hedge for short term trading. in a way, you remind me of a guy who studies all the chess books of the world, and then keep playing pinball instead.

im not here to discuss whether your short term trading is successful, im sure it is and you were just unfortunate in the few examples you provided ( i know you wish the above thread disappeared, i mean: you bought the puts, they lost money, you said you closed them; they went in the money, you say you didnt short only the qqq but other stuff; finally the markets rally and you lose double: what a mess just to chase some cyber glory!!! ).

you can read what s going on in the world, why take a random walk thru the short term ( and it is, considering that the daily price moves are driven by algos and day traders, who look at charts, strenght, liquidity, order books, anything but the fundamentals ). stick to longer term bets ( i guarantee you, you dont need to replicate the behaviour of a bot and trade every 30 seconds, i have some trades on for weeks, and sometimes even for years!). and if there are other people that day trade, let them ! potentially both you and mr ben can be right and make fortunes even with different approaches.

one more thing, why oh why, do you have to stop loss on an option trade. the whole idea to buy an option is to have a limited d/side ( your premium ) so that you can obtain leverage and sleep well. if you really bnought these puts thinking the market would have rolled over, why flip them the day after? buy less quantity if you cannot afford the loss, or buy a longer duration which would give you less gamma and a more stable pnl next time. i repeat, a 5 minutes bet from someone like you it s the wrong type of bet.

enjoy the weekend

clearly you have absolutely zero understanding of what a contract size is, leverage, or what a stop loss is. Why else would you think ben needed to stake $1.2 billion to make $500k? Laugh

Is there a law or something on the stop loss you have to use? I know it sounds barmy, but have you ever thought that it might be possible to lower the number of contracts you trade and widen your stop, and still lose the same amount of money as if you were trading a higher number of contracts but with a tighter stop? Hardly "getting slaughtered" is it? Laugh

Furthermore, if you are using swing or position trading (a valid strategy btw, one which you have used numerous times yourself), then you pretty much need wide stops. What would be the point in trying to follow a volatile long term trend if you got stopped out 5 minutes into the trade just because you were using "tight stops".

I suggest you do some research because you appear pretty clueless on most basic aspects of trading.

I wish you luck kicking "the habit" unfortunately however studies have shown that once you "sell" once, the odds are that you'll go on selling forever.
