Consumer prices in February 2012: expected rise of 2.3% on February 2011

WIESBADEN – The consumer price index for Germany is expected to rise by 2.3% in February 2012 compared with February 2011. As also reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of the results available so far, the consumer price index is expected to increase by 0.7% on January 2012.
The inflation rate continues to be determined by price rises for household energy – especially for heating oil and gas – and motor fuels.
The harmonised consumer price index for Germany, which is calculated for European purposes, is expected to increase by 2.5% in February 2012 on February 2011. The index is expected to rise by 0.9% on January 2012.
The final results for February 2012 will be released on 9 March 2012.
