It is like saying you're a cross between being a bit slow and thinking your smarter than everyone else.  Or perhaps both, either way it doesn't reflect well on the user.  I'll post a few hilarious examples in a minute.

The recessions over, the good times are coming.  By Melv

Just makes him sound like a total dullard, why not start a thread....
"some people think the recessions over and the good times are coming, but I think they're wrong"

Or

"the recession is not over"

Or to be proper brief...

"it is all b.ollo.x."

You currently sound like one of those self important twits that should be avoided at all costs, I mean I bet you're good fun at parties.  I am being sarcastic about the parties bit btw.

Forum Sarcasm Index has only been rising for like 6 consecutive quarters, up over 15 percent this year alone...
like, REALLY well spotted rob.

Dislike of my style noted.

Will I be posting?

"some people think the recessions over and the good times are coming, but I think they're wrong"

Nope.

PS I do not think they are wrong; I am confused.

I do not go to parties. Unless you mean dinner parties.

It isn't just melv and it isn't just betfair tbf. I sometimes read the beeb and guardian online and all the comments are so sarcy, just a cheap and lazy way of saying I think I am so much smarter than you mugs.

Melv and others are very knowledgeable too, what is wrong with just sharing the knowledge and having a normal discussion.  Condescension is a disease of so many of these pseud's corner types.  And anyway I honestly don't think anyone proper understands economics so better to keep the patronizing down as pride comes before a fall.  There have been some horrendously bad calls from some of the forum bigwigs on beer in the past.

Thanks for the compliment. But I try to put myself in the postion of some-one confused and am not afraid of geting things wrong, making mistakes and looking stupid. ( good job too some night say.Excited).

Where I might sound sarky is where people do assume they know the answers and assume they know some rock bottom right and unassailably good things that cannot be questioned. Such as; the market is a God and will always work wonders to behold in the end; foreigners are the cause of all our problems;all we need is heroic leaders etc etc. But thats not to say I am right. Is is however to say that the above are not neccessarily right either.

I also might sounds provocative because i am trying to provoke discussion in order to learn some thing.

I am now boring myself. Hope something crops up soon to make me feel provocative.

rob, things that differentiates this forum are:
the markets are open ended, on a football forum a dispute over a match will be settled in a day, here it drags on forever.
there's fewer people here so more chance of a Ben vs Melly situation, the bigger forums are more crowded and anonymous.
results are more disputable in finance, a sports event has a final score.
there's probably a few personality failings specific to economics too.

What differentiates this forum is that you have posters that have a clue and you have a retard like benny posting at the same time, without any preconditions or minimum standards for experience, academic background or just plain knowledge. So the informed blends with the ignorant, knowledge blends with stupidity, fact blends with fiction, sense blends with nonsense until one day......

.....poof.....the forum turns into the "benny meltdown zone" where the vile, absurd and utterly drowns everything else.

standards for experience, academic background or just plain knowledge. So the informed LaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaughLaugh

is that the kind of academic background and plain knowledge you need to recommend gold @1680 and see it drop to 1522  OR the kind you need to short the AUD @ 106.55 and watch it rise to 107.70?

maybe its the kind you need to  go short the S&P and watch it rise by 26 points?Cry

INTELLECTUAL BUFFOON.

give it away you moron.
