FED beige book yesterday:

"reports on consumer spending were favourable in general, with retailers is some markets describing sales towards the end of 2011 as brisk and robust"

December retails data from US Census Bureau today:

"December retail sales rose 0.1pc, the weakest rise in seven months, down from a 0.2pc rise in November"

But then I suppose Evans did spill the beans yesterday to anyone who's listening and hasn't been totally dumbed down by the bu@*@it.

And I'll let in in on a secret. Even the 0.1pc Census Bureau number is bogus. How do I know? I look at port traffic data, rail traffic data, the BDI, and the all important petroleum distillates number, and they are all DOWN, some nosediving. That's how I know.

Don't look at the data they try to force feed you, like ducks attached to a feeding tube having their livers fattened, look at the data they don't give you.
