Portfolio implies it you own more than 1 stock. But at least he is investing on fundamentals (or it appears that way). Why exactly is an AIM stock that has been range trading on no real news flow for 3 months a "mugs idea"?

It's better to have the 58k portfolio for obvious reasons. However, even if both had the same value past performance wouldn't be an indicator of which is the better portfolio, only an indication of what WAS the best.

Oh dear MT. You have already broken one of the first rules of investing. Buy on dips and sell on rips. Why exactly is a stock that has "dropped recently" a bad idea if the fundamentals are exactly the same as they always were, and the stock very much still in a long term uptrend?
The price has dropped a "massive" 15% from it's peak, 4 months ago. Still very much range trading and no big deal. I've seen aim stocks drop 50% on no news, then go up 10x once the good news starts to flow.
You do realise that AIM shares are incredibly volatile, and tend to either range trade or decrease slightly if there is no news flow? I've seen AIM shares decrease 50% because of no news, and then go up 10x in a few months once decent news starts to flow.
BTW, You do realise that no share goes up in a straight line? You are basing your "mugs idea" comment on technical analysis, which is flawed anyway for reasons outlined above, whilst ignoring all fundamentals?
You sound exactly the sort of person who would get done in a pump and dump tbh. You would see the price going up, and all the pumpers saying good things, and then come to the conclusion that it was a brilliant thing because the price had gone up recently. You would then get impaled on the spike.
Trust me on this - buying dips on AIM stocks works wonders, if you like the fundamentals of the company. I would suggest it is an excellent time to get in that stock, as the fundamentals are arguable better (because there is a new joint venture in the pipeline) than they were a few months ago, and you have a nice little discount in price from the peak.

I recall reading, what sounds like a sensible suggestion to me, that the percentage of bonds in your portfolio should approximately correspond to your age.

Opposite of whippet. Takes a lot of reading and fobbing off but you have good daily % wins from AIM because of hope. Can't believe i typed that but t'is true.

MONEY TREE looked at some of the online stuff regarding her whippet, think you have found a good one there.
small price with what looks like plenty of upside, wish I had some free funds.
From another thread on here, 20 days ago you sounded rather upbeat regarding HER, MT!

MT thinks that all good shares go up in a straight line lol. I remember him bitching about XEL when it dipped 100p after going up 160p lol. He probably sold out before the next 160p increase. Stick to mug punting on the football MT as investing obviously isn't for you. I think you need to come up with a better reason for not buying HER other than "it has gone down a bit recently".

whippets making it up now, i was no in on xel till 265.

The share price is going the wrong way?? Even if you got into HER at a recent high around 3.50 (which would not have been the brightest move to start with), it is now 3.25. A loss of less than 10%. If you are not fishing, and have ignored the postings of many who have said aim shares go nowhere without news, how can you believe a sideways movement is the wrong way? Are you looking at the same graph as me?

Think about this for a second - do you think news such as "we have started drilling and the results will be out in a month" is going to do anything spectacular to the share price? The only thing that matters in AIM stocks is news about finding minerals/oil/whatever, acquisitions, or new projects. Announcements about things people already knew won't have any impact.

Fishing for sure. Sideways price movement cannot be described as 'going south'. In the same was as today's 2.42% rise cannot be described as 'going through the roof'!
