i have loads of building society accounts each with a few hundred pounds in each earning little or no interest, these accounts were set up before the carpetbaggin boom and these are the ones that never floated ie nationwide, britannia and so on.
Are these accounts still worth keeping, is there any chance of these building societies floating at sometime in the next 10-15 years or are floatations like the halifax and alliance & leicester a thing of the past.

If floatations are a thing of the past i have a couple k sitting there doing nothing so closing all these accounts and maybe buying some shares would be a better option.

cheers Happy
