i wouldn't be surprised if the BofE base rate NEVER goes above 1% ever again? anyone agree?

Ever is a long old time. Laugh I wouldn't back on them going above 1% in the next couple of years.

If you are a prudent saver like me it is really bad news. In essence we are being relieved of our savings to pay for the people in debt and bankers bonuses.

Will definitely keep most of my money in gold for the time being. Probably the best thing would really be to shove off to somewhere like Malaysia for my retirement and leave the UK to stew in its own juice.
