I've covered all my physical holdings and am basically flat here. Think they've struggled a bit on technicals and silver in particular could have a real dump over the next couple of months. After that, I plan to buy a lot more - still medium-term bull. Any views?
hanging about a bit, isn't it? Weird behaviour - not sure what to make of it. When people are buying risk assets, it hardly comes off - at least not for long. Silver coming up again relatively... I'm hoping for a reasonable sell off, but it seems to hang in there.

As far as I am concerned, it's been in a downward parallel channel for the last few weeks. Will probably form a bear flag for maybe a couple of days to a couple of weeks before plummeting or, if fundamentals change, going back up.
Ok, in short, it'll go down... or up. [smiley:crazy] Shorting rallies seems to make more sense to me, anyway.

Yeah, I have a channel drawn from the 20 Jun highs or so on my chart too. I think we'll break 1100 by the end of the year. I am hedged on all my physical which was the plan in the first place: You can stop out of paper on the way up and keep the physical but the other way round isn't posssible if everything is going bankrupt...

Very volatile. Historically it spikes in times of (money supply) inflation and distress but gives back most of its gains quickly. I am long some physcial for safe-haven protection, but I'm short futures at the moment as I think the peak _could_ have passed.
When my Mum rings up and starts saying she's thinking of buying some Gold, that's an alarm bell. If it's made the Telegrpah money section then there's no one else left to buy. The counter-arguments are huge of course - more QE possible etc.
I wouldn't buy it unless you can lock the cash up as it could be a long time before it outpaces cash. If it does go up though, it will go to $2000/troz, so it's a difficult one.

goring, my mum rang me up in 2004 and said she wanted to buy gold around $400 but didn't know the best way to go about it.
never did a thing about it

Couldn't possibly comment, being a day trader. I am looking for opps to buy but it seems to be starting during the Japanese trading session; I won't jump in if it's already shot up hoping that it'll go up some more.
