I have followed your advice and sold some FTSE futures at 5743.5. Seems a long way below the cash, I suppose there's a lot of dividends coming up.

Why would you follow someones advice on a gambling forum?

Well I would not do something I was not half thinking of anyway

Fair enough, but I would suggest if Gorings post inspired you to trade, you should not be trading!

what do you think goring? i think 15% ish correction is possible, and then a turning point, depending on political decisions either down a lot more or up to the moon from there

Why would you follow someones advice on a gambling forum?

perhaps you find CNBC more legitimate chisel?Whatever you do DON'T listen to someone who has a winning idea.Just listen to those that know.Like all the commentators who predicted the GFC-of which there were ZERO.
A trading newsletter this week was pleading with me to subscribe to their 2750$ a year service.I took a 2 week trial over the last two weeks.Of their 9 tips how many made money? two, the other 7 are in the red. When I pointed this out to the salesgirl her reply was" you can keep those ones for the long term" Naturally I told her where to put her newsletter.

The point is it is no less legitimate to follow a tip from this forum than it is from anywhere else. The mere fact it is in this forum does not automatically disqualify it.To say that it does indicates a distinct lack of free thought on your behalf chisel.
In fact once you weed out the one hit wonders and the snipes I think you will find the forum producers plenty of winners. Alternativly is you think the advice here is so terrible you could go against it?Short when they say buy and buy when they say short. If its so inaccurate . You would have done well on the ftse will fall thread.
Now chisel if you think goring is a dummy you can go long on monday.Let the forum know what you decide. That is if you can make your own decisions.

I'm getting a bit chopped up on the equities now - not quite following as I expected to be honest. I'm out with a loss, but I have opening stops below the market for a fall. Metals doing nicely though!

What sort of downside do you see. I was thinking to write some puts against my short if it goes much further, but the implied vols doesn't seem to be that high. Do you think they might increase?

Mr B

It is laughabl ethat you say it is going well. From when Goring went in on 22 April market had increased by over 100 points up until yesterday! The trend is up and that is where I see it going. It is also where you said it was going a couple of weeks ago, despite other laughing at you .. Are you a seller now?

I am short on Goring's advice and around 240 points onside. Thinking to close soon. OK it's not a fortune but better than a kick in the face.
Just hoping for the fear factor to really set in ahead of Wall Street opening.

chisel- previously you seemed to have your finger on the pulse. But lately your like a chook running around with its head chopped off.You dont know if your arthur or martha.Goring was correct here, give him his credit. He didnt mention specific numbers he just said its going down.Good call. Are you becoming another botty where all are wrong except you?I don't think thats really you.Your just a little confused now.Take a step back and wait for gorings next analysis.

I love the way he contradicts himself within the space of a couple of hours - at 10am he says the Dow is going up - at 12 he says he has no idea where it's going!

What I mean is that I would not bet one way or another at the moment. I can see why people think it is going down, but on the flip side I can see why it is going up! My feeling is that these little dips are profit taking and that it wil continue going up! But it is not an opinion I am convinced by, and I will certainly not be putting my money wher my mouth is!

Mr B, Thanks for your last post! The point I was making is that before it went down 200 points it had gone up 100, and was probably looking a bit scary given what had gone before. I remember you told eveyone it would burst through 11000 when it was 10700... You now think it is high enough?

FTSE goes down 150 pts in a day due to 'profit taking'??????????!!!! i suppose everyone decided to take a profit on the same day??? what nonsense

FWIW - I'd stay short with a close stop. That's almost the same as closing out here and buying a lottery ticket below, but not quite. Tomorrow's open will decide whether I stay in or not - if we go back through this afternoon's highs by a few points then I'm out and wrong (but onside).

goring your strategy is a good one.But don't make that stop too close. If it continues to fall sell more.Thats how I got a few big results.

chisel- actuaaly im totally out at the moment and have been for a few weeks.Markets have not really made any definitive moves.Up 100 down 100.No mileage there.Gold i moving to a breakout posi but I never seem to get that right so I'm not trading it.Got a little out of the euro after it gapped up.Now everyone is bagging the euro I would'nt be surprised if it had a short move to the upside.Even the AUD is stuck in a small range.I'll just sit for the moment.
Best of luck to all traders.

The fed has made a commitment to keep rates low even longer. As I said. Governments are committed to not only seeing a recovery, but getting GDP back to where it was at the peak. I feel like there is absolutely no way the market is going to fall, and that the only way is up! They will do absolutely EVERYTHING to make things happen

Dont be daft!

The US congress appoints the fed chief, who effectively is the FED

As stipulated in the Banking Act of 1935, the chairman is one of seven members of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System who are appointed by the President from among the sitting Governors.[1] The chairman is subject to Senate confirmation to a four-year term
