my son been left 2000 to save until hes 18,went to halifax now to open an acct in his name, it is a small branch but was informed to do it online or phone them up, but my son had to speak with them personally without an inteference from his parent.

He's over 7 so that is actually how it's done but only in person with a responsible adult. I would doubt that the FSA would agree with the Halifax.

this does not surprise me.

my parents recently went into a branch of halifax to open a savings account for my son. After nearly an hour of being messed around, being told to phone various numbers and then being told they had to start the whole process again by some described as "ubelievably rude" they gave up and opened it elsewhere.

Could just imagine some**bank manager saying "now I'll give you 50 quid cash in hand and a load of sweets if you take this really stupid account deal"
