I note that some people are hoping to throw a six on the property market not resuming its falls on the assumption that interest rates are set to remain low for years.

Nobody knows what is going to happen of course but what if the rest of the world raise their interest rates on the back of their coming out of recession?

How would that affect our ability to go it alone on interest rates?

Nobody really knows what will happen in 2 years time just like nobody knew the credit bubble would blow up like it has-DEFLATION will destroy assets further in the coming years-don't forget bonds were pricing in zero inflation for about ten years not to long ago. Deflation is very much dominating here and there's every chance that if Deflation doesn't dominate, inflation of 10% + will, the central bankers can't tread the fine line that is needed to balance it, just make sure you have 10-20% gold and your at least keep your shirt when it kicks off.
