Despite selling major currencies 10% below spot rate, people still leave it to the last minute and allow these cowboys to Rip them off. All these 0% Commission posters plastered everywhere when they are creaming the rate big time. Misleading information or what ?!

If you can't be arsed sorting some cash out beforehand then you pay the price.

It's like not having anything to eat before going on a long motorway journey.

oh come on! I travel a lot and if you are dumb enough to wait till you get to the airport you desrve to be ripped off.The airports throughout the world charge exorbitant rents and its a monopoly situation. The best way to get money these days when travelling is to use a 'CIRRUS' card. Its usally connected to any debit card associated with a savings account. They give you an excellent exchange rates then charge you 'foeign currency fee" It usually works out to the same as exchanging cash at the best rate around wherever you are.

Also why should idiots be protected from their own stupidity? Those whinging about this triviality probably overpaid for their house as well. Its just their mentality.

The best way to get travel money is a nationwide flex account.
They have started passing on fees to customers (it used to be completely free), however there are very few places where you will have to pay any fees. The exchange rate is excellent, and in most countries there is no fee.

No fee in the eurozone.
When I went to Costa Rica and Nicaragua there was no fee either.
For a nationwide credit card there are no fees on worldwide spending and you get the same exchange rate which differs very little from the interbank rate. I think the post office offer a credit card like that too.

It's true that when I go on trips with friends, they do sometimes get their foreign currency at the airport. It can easily leave you £100 out of pocket if you get a horrible deal.
