wont be that by the time it begins and she'll probably be seeded this time which'll be the first time at a slam since the US Open 2022, getting back form and confidence after a long run of injuries and coaching changes, seems stability has finally arrived.

Kind Regards.

Her performance for a set and a half against Sabalenka was top level, something being a little overlooked due to Aryna then losing to Amanda (a historically terrible matchup for her)
She could have a rematch with Leylah this week. Both are playing well so that could be informative. Playing doubles with Rybakina is surely a good experience as well. The real secret weapons though seem to be the physio/fitness coach.

When Less Rich Emma turned to her team after dispatching Osaka she made a subtle gesture of the number 2 with her hand. I was thinking this may have been a reference to the reporting of Naomi pointing out pre match she'd won a second US open. Maybe it was something else but I liked it anyway. She's enjoying herself and absolutely back top somewhere near her best.

Can she win another slam? I think she can if the work being done with a team she clearly trusts results in eventually being able to see out three sets of tennis without a level crash and if she can avoid injury. As Wesdaq would point out that's lots of ifs.

2nd win at Washington imo.

Need to see her draw in the US Open itself before getting carried with this

She made the exact same sign again after beating Sakkari today so it's not that and it's not about Osaka either.

She's 32nd in the live rankings, and looks set to be seeded, that'll help, in the last 3 slams she's run into Sabalenka or Swiatek by the time she's got to the 2nd or 3rd round.

Definitely overpriced at 50/1 for sure

Showing signs again and she missed a beat against Sabalenka at Wimbledon

Might well have been a different result for what I think was a momentary lack of focus that affected her rhythm.

Over celebrating that first break against Sab ... I saw relief, maybe surprise, at her own performance during that match which is the wrong time to allow those feelings.

She'll get it but need that ice cool ruthless frame of mind to progress.

Overpriced, at the very least a good trade for the US Open

She capitulates far too easily to be a bet for me.  She checked out tamely against Sabalenka in the second set after repeatedly missing chances to win the first at set point.  The same applied to her other grass court competitions this summer.  When she is down her body language slumps too and instead of a spring in her step she trudges back to the court after sit downs.  However she has seemed more positive and happier in North America, which gives some hope.
Outside the market leaders, I don't think her chance is any better than any of 20 others, so she will be a lay.

^ tell us how many set points she had in the first set and how many Saba had ?
Report .Marksman. August 2, 2025 5:17 PM BST
Raducanu went a break up in the opening set and after world No 1 Sabalenka hit back the Briton then rallied to save seven set points in a marathon 10th game.

Sabalenka converted the 8th set point.
Raducanu failed to convert one set point.  Hope that corrects things.
Report mesmerised August 2, 2025 6:13 PM BST
So when you said that Raducanu repeatedly missed chances to win the first set at set point, you acknowledge now that she never had a single set point in the first set until the tie break, and that set point, was the one and only set point she had in the entire set? And that it was actually Sabalenka who was the one who repeatedly missed chances to win the first set at set point - 7 set points in fact. OK, good.

She played against the World Number 1 tennis player, in her prime, aged 27, who was favourite to win the whole tournament, a 6ft powerhouse beast with a monstrous serve and forehand on grass, in what everyone described as the match of the tournament, where she was edged out 76 64, and you think she checked out tamely, you haven't got a clue what you are talking about and clearly didn't watch the match, and even if you did, you didn't know what you were looking at. Kind Regards.

forget it. At 50/1 if that is what she is, Raducanu is no value whatsoever.

Report mesmerised August 3, 2025 10:44 AM BST
it was partly based upon newfound form and confidence and partly based upon the anticipation that she will be seeded for the tournament which obviously helps to build early momentum assuming you don't run into dangerous floaters, obviously could still play 1-8 seeds in round 3 but it's better than r1 or r2, playing Cincy with no points to defend which will also help. Though if she somehow was seeded 17-24 she'd avoid top 8 first three rounds.

I'm usually the first to say you can only really know value once you've seen the projected draw which wont be until the 22nd.

anyway, Mboko is 70/1, not even one of the 56 players currently listed on Betfair's illiquid outright market. Now she is worth taking note off, flagged by jm a while ago.

Kind Regards.

didn't see the sabalenka match but radacanu stats look pretty good to me

anyone see it this week ?
Report .Marksman. August 14, 2025 12:04 PM BST
Raducanu served very well throughout.  At times the Sabalenka serve wasn't as good.  Raducanu's coach shouuted encourage throughout (which mostly only consisted of "Vamos"), but she was distracted enough to walk over to her coach for advice at one point, resulting in a warning from the chair umpire.
Evenly matched throughout but, in the end, it seemed to be Sabalenka's sheer will to win that won the tie breaks.

Cheers Marksman

2 decent performances against Sab then this year
maybe she is on the turn
but needs to check her head like you say- still young enough

She served much better in her second round game and, from what I saw in Cincinnati, only that stopped her beating Sabalenka. For me she has a big chance against Rybakina and it will be wide open from there.

Emma getting hammered so far, 5-1 down. This is where Francisco Roig (her coach/Nadal's former coach) will need to show his value

Let's take stock

Raducanu this year

Aus - KO'd by Swiatek
French - KO'd by Swiatek
Wimbledon - KO'd by Sabalenka
US Open - KO'd by Rybakina

the 3 best female tennis players in the world, regardless of what the rankings tell you, and you're writing her off at the age of 22 Laugh

Her form has clearly improved and she has plenty of time, she keeps getting KO'd in the 3rd round because she's been coming in unseeded and runs into the top dogs too early, little chance to build momentum and rhythm, that should change soon.

Kind Regards.

she's playing like a top 30ish player right now. needs to step up more if she wants to compete with the top 10
Report .Marksman. September 7, 2025 11:12 AM BST
But she hasn't even been in any WTA final for four years. Even moderate players are able to pick up a few of these now and again.  Any way, thanks to who ever matched my lay at 40.
Report Hayden September 7, 2025 5:17 PM BST
Given the circumstances back when she won it in 2021 regarding Covid and the imponderable nature of how badly that affected one player more than the other hence the draw falling apart at the seems , her best achievement ever is an anomaly until proved otherwise ....4 years is a long wait and if we're honest that form that won her the title would be nowhere near good enough today anyway.
She may only be 22yo but i'd say the best form she's ever shown wouldn't be anywhere near good enough to win any of the slams.

It's all about opinions guys , good luck tonight   Happy
