No WTA this week (because they are mugs), but at least we have tennis, and with strong fields.

You can how much of shambles WTA is from Cherbourg. Qinwen Zheng playing qualifying, when she's been tearing up $25k's in 2020, in other words the main draw must be absolutely stacked.

Impressed how good fields the ATP events got this week, certainly shows the appetite to play. Curious how Linz does, as it seems dire to me if you don't live in Europe. Even if you do, you're expected to train/tick yourself over for one lone international in November 4 weeks after any other event, hardly ideal is it.

Qinwen Zheng, even though she kept tearing it up in the clay W25s after the restart of the ITF World Tour, was still only ranked #405 (currently ranked #328) at the entry deadline of Cherbourg. With that she barely even made it into qualies (second to last accepted entry). Can't access last year's acceptance list, but yeah...field looks way stronger overall than it did in 2019.

I'm still waiting for the uproar over no WTA tournaments, from journalists, players etc.
If wimmin gets scheduled on Lenglen for an RG semi all hell breaks lose, but when (almost) the rest of the year gets cancelled you can hear crickets. |

The W25 Cherbourg has about the same field as you'd get in WTA Tashkent in an average year (minus one star player that is in Tashkent for the appearance fee)

I'll take Linz if I can get it, so kudos to them if it happens, but like n88 said, who plays one international in the middle of a ten week break.

Doesn't help me, I'm banned from betting on lower level tennis, even though 99,8% of my betting is on main tour stuff.
