You can how much of shambles WTA is from Cherbourg. Qinwen Zheng playing qualifying, when she's been tearing up $25k's in 2020, in other words the main draw must be absolutely stacked.

Impressed how good fields the ATP events got this week, certainly shows the appetite to play. Curious how Linz does, as it seems dire to me if you don't live in Europe. Even if you do, you're expected to train/tick yourself over for one lone international in November 4 weeks after any other event, hardly ideal is it.

Querrey apparently positive for covid-19 and out of whatever draw he was in (St. Petersburg I think)

Qinwen Zheng, even though she kept tearing it up in the clay W25s after the restart of the ITF World Tour, was still only ranked #405 (currently ranked #328) at the entry deadline of Cherbourg. With that she barely even made it into qualies (second to last accepted entry). Can't access last year's acceptance list, but yeah...field looks way stronger overall than it did in 2019.

By:
Burrage is ranked higher than that then and she's in Q.
By:
Lmao at 365's opening odds for next years FO. Iga is joint fav with Halep.
By:
the main draw cut off was at #226. The Burrage was ranked #268 at the deadline.

Diego Barbiani @Diego_Barbiani The Roland Garros final between Iga Swiatek and Sofia Kenin sets a new record with more than 2.5 million viewers in Poland: 1.16 on Eurosport and 1.3 on TVN The previous record was 1.5 million viewers for the Agnieszka Radwanska vs Petra Kvitova final at the WTA Finals 2015 https://twitter.com/MarekFurjan/status/1315587581074198529 Igasport! |

lil Struffi is playing now.
By:
Struffi doing what Struffi does best - collapse from a break lead.
By:
Is the centre court at the Lanxess arena slow? That's a lot of breaks and far worse serving stats that one would normally expect.
I watched some qualies on other courts and those courts were fast. |

wow, Roger has about 250 more tour wins than Rafa

woah, the NHL MVP in Cologne to watch the tennis.

I hate nando's and betfair geoblocking with there being no TV coverage.
By:
oh wait, the WDR (public broadcaster) is streaming centre court on the internet, even with chromecast support.

Oh, Cologne centre court uses hawkeye live, doesn't it?
By:
German public broadcaster commentator keeps talking about a long tournament break for Zverev. Clearly doesn't check the ITF website for results.

Remember when Millman was good enough to beat Roger Federer?

this event not played in a sauna though.

Read today all the pupils will sit in their classrooms with thick jackets, hats, scarves and blankets so that the rooms can have adequate air circulation with the outside to lower the concentration of viruses.

Wonder if they are doing the same with these indoor tournaments and it's freezing inside because they have all the windows open.

Oracle guy should really step up and finance two months of sweet outdoor tournaments at IW.

mug events or proper main tour stuff?
By:
both!

Remember when Zverev was leading by a double break in the second set?
By:
You know your indoor hard court sucks if it averages more breaks than a woman's match at this year's RG.
By:
I'm still waiting for the uproar over no WTA tournaments, from journalists, players etc.
If wimmin gets scheduled on Lenglen for an RG semi all hell breaks lose, but when (almost) the rest of the year gets cancelled you can hear crickets. |
By:
The W25 Cherbourg has about the same field as you'd get in WTA Tashkent in an average year (minus one star player that is in Tashkent for the appearance fee)
By:
I'll take Linz if I can get it, so kudos to them if it happens, but like n88 said, who plays one international in the middle of a ten week break.
