He said he'd really enjoyed working with her in the post-match interview.

Like I said looked to be very little friendship between her and Kim almost opulent have been further apart if Kim was watching from sutton with a telescope.
Didn't see them even look at each other.

Oedipus complex...Mauresmo is soo experienced...and that's exactly what Murray needs.
Report northanlite July 3, 2014 10:22 AM BST
a lot of the newspapers are intimating their was something amiss and reporting Murray was seen muttering "shut the f**k up" at his box & made the comment "five minutes before the f***ing match"
anyone any idea what that was all about?
watching the highlights there were stoney faces amongst friends & family from the start.
Report judorick July 3, 2014 11:07 AM BST
^^^ been reading the same stories this morning

given how poorly he played it is easy to think something happened to upset his game...

watch this space imo but sounds like a row with someone in the team / family
Report HonkyJoe July 3, 2014 12:44 PM BST
Quite a few of the reports suggested the disagreement was with Kim rather than Amelie.

Although I thought his wording was interesting when he was asked about continuing with Mauresmo. He said whether they continued or not would come down to what she decided, which suggests he's not totally convinced that she's committed to his cause.

Certainly some interesting stories to come out of this yet...
Report northanlite July 3, 2014 1:33 PM BST
it was also really interesting to hear GD say he already knew something was not right with murray during the knock up !!!
was he being serious? he sounded like he was
Report Patb July 3, 2014 2:32 PM BST
well obviously something happened within the group 5 mins before the match, but the bigger issue is Murray's ability or not to deal with such events. By making such comments on the court, he has opened up new speculation. I cant think of any other players that would refer to outside events during a match. Murray is clearly a great player from the physical perspective but NOT on the metal side of things. To play at his very best, everything around him has to be near enough perfect (perhaps that was IL's skill?) and, in the real World, especially GS's, that is going to be rare. BJK once said "champions adjust" which is a great quote and applies perfectly to AM.
Report HonkyJoe July 3, 2014 2:44 PM BST
It does raise further questions over his employment of Mauresmo. She was hardly the strongest mentally, so why didn't he get a coach who had more to offer with regards to that obvious weakness of his.   What next?  Employing Dina Safina???
Report bb66 July 3, 2014 2:49 PM BST

To be fair, if Kim went off on one, 5 mins before the match, I don't think we can blame IM for that. It would have been the same with IL around unless you think that IL had such a calming influence that Kim can do that and Andy can chill out mentally and recover before the match starts. It could be that IM has upset the whole balance of team Murray and this has lead to rows etc. Either way, its not how great champions behave. Even JM kept his rants to the specifics of what was happening on the court rather than domestic stuff. All very amateur really.
Report wisewords July 3, 2014 3:02 PM BST
is Kim Sears a bit of a drama queen then? I didn't know that
Report Ozymandius July 3, 2014 3:03 PM BST
Mauresmo's body laguage poor after it started going wrong for Murray.

Lendl's wouldn't have changed, win or lose...which I think is reassuring for a player.
Report HonkyJoe July 3, 2014 3:05 PM BST
As Pat says, though, it is primarily Murray's job to keep himself together before and during the match. Mauresmo's body language should be a minor point, and perhaps not even that.   Murray is a bit of an idiot.
Report EVILROYSLADE July 3, 2014 3:43 PM BST
Murray was not at the game that's for sure. Argument with his other half for sure. We all lose it from time to time, even when we shouldn't.
Report Patb July 3, 2014 4:54 PM BST
I am interested: in the history of ATP has a loss been attributed to a "barney" with your other half before a match. AM making tennis history perhaps?
Report curious-cat July 4, 2014 3:47 AM BST
DURING the match Kim was her usual self - cheering on AM when he won a point - while Mauresmo looked very down and grumpy.
Report curious-cat July 4, 2014 3:51 AM BST
perhaps Judy Murray was somehow involved in the upset .. though she was shown watching Andy's brother Jamie when Andy's match started.

Anyone else think Murray's mum is really pulling all the strings now and it shows?

They used Lendl's firm influence beneath the humour to guide him to his first Slam wins. Now probably due to a combination of Lendl asking for too much money (in their opinion) and Judy's possible resentment of the success being seen as largely down to Lendl's influence, they have returned to pre-Lendl days where Murray and mum call the shots which didnt work then and wont work now.
Mauresmo cuts the speculation on who his next manager was going to be however already her influence seems unwelcome (she wasnt the best player mentally). Three women trying to form his stable base just wont work as Murray needs a firm hand to keep him motivated and telling him to do the right things while also being seen themselves to have past the experience in the mens game to do this. Lendl was perfect for this. Kim will be looking for the ring on the finger and another womans influence controlling his time wont go down as well as Lendl doing it.
Report Patb July 4, 2014 9:41 AM BST
One of the big improvements that Lendl managed to introduce was a big reduction in Murrays mutterings and communicating with the players box (I am sure that this is why Lendl delerberately give no feedback whilst in the box). Bottom line is, you are on your own and once the game has started, you have to work you own way through the match. Now Lendl has gone, he is back to his old ways and he is clearly not the player he was. I was not convinced that Lendl did have that big an influence over Murray but now you can see the mess he is in, it is clear that big credit must be given to Lendl. Having said that, it does reflect poorly on Murray that losing a coach can have such a big effect on your game. I cant see Fed's game dropping so quickly if he lost Edberg  etc. Overall, IMHO, Murray has still not fully "grown up" re the mental side of the game and relies far too much on those around him for support.
Report Davy Jones July 4, 2014 10:10 AM BST
Yes Murray has that "teenager" feel about him: spoilt , petulant when things go wrong. When you hear he plays xbox in his offtime it makes you wonder, I cant imagine Roger Federer playing Grand Theft Auto - he would too busy making money.

Report HonkyJoe July 4, 2014 10:40 AM BST
Lendl's something of a toughie. I suspect it was made very clear to Murray that if he ever shouted abuse at Lendl while on the court, Lendl was out of there...  Now, though, Murray calls the shots again, so he feels he can go back to abusing his box when he isn't playing well.
Report stu July 4, 2014 11:09 AM BST
Doesn't Djoker shout a fair amount of abuse at his box from what I observe? Guess it depends what he's shouting though, lol

Report stu July 4, 2014 11:11 AM BST
Are there any other top male players with a female coach?
Report Patb July 4, 2014 11:31 AM BST
is it just coincedence that Murray spent years having his mum with him on the Pro circuit and then chooses a female coach. Even Murray fans would have to admit that he has a different way of doing things (to say the least). IMHO, until he gets his head sorted and his team sorted, he wont be in the same league as the true champions of the sport. On another point, how likely is it that we will not see him at the O2 at the end of the year? That would be a major set back not only for Murray but for the event.
Report SabineIsGOAT July 4, 2014 11:42 AM BST

Report Angel Gabrial July 4, 2014 11:45 AM BST
Murray didn`t play like he was angry or pumped up about something he played like he was fed up, that he had had enough of a certain situation.

As mentioned before, too many women on the scene, possibly his mother being the biggest pain.

i can tell you for a fact his mother has had very little influence over his on court business for years. you see her at the slams but she doesn't travel to many other tournaments & she lives in Scotland while he lives in London.
of course she traveled with him when he was a youngster & coached him as a junior, that is not exactly uncommon but as soon as he broke into the senior game she backed right off.
Report eric_morris July 4, 2014 6:50 PM BST
Well maybe she has moved in again thinking Lendl did all that was needed when in fact Murray needs a constant toe up his arris to keep his mind on the job and mouth shut to keep his focus. That is how it is looking anyway.

Agree with Angel G. Murray's mother thinks she is the tops when it comes to tennis coaching. Will be expecting to be made a Dame next! Just has that air about her as if to say " Do you realise who I am!!!".

Laugh fair enough.

i do think Ma Murray gets a hard time though. it's true that she is a tough & determined woman but she is a nice lady too who is not as involved in things as people seem to think.
rumour has it part of the problem is with other members of Murray's backroom staff having their noses put out of joint with the Mauresmo appointment for what ever reason.
